Procedure Teacher’s Activity

Learner’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities. 1. Prayer. Everyone please stand up for the prayer, Ariel please led the prayer. Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. 2. Greetings. Good morning class! How are you today?

Good morning sir. We are fine sir.

3. Preparing the Classroom and Checking of Attendance. Before you sit please pick up some pieces of papers under your chair and arrange your chairs properly. (Students are picking up some pieces of papers and arrange their chairs properly). Secretary please give me the list of absent students today. Thank you Yes, Sir. 4. Classroom rules Before we start we start I would like to introduce to you our classroom rules; first, raise your hands when you want to speak. Second, participate in every activities. Third, (Students are listening) respect other ideas and lastly, stay in your group. Do you understand? Do you have any questions? B. Review Now let’s review the lesson we discussed yesterday, Are you ready?

Yes, sir. No, Sir. Yes, Sir. We are ready.

What was our lesson yesterday all about? Yes, Mary?

(Students are raising their hands).

Yes, Great job Mary, Please have a sit. Our lesson yesterday is all about the “Causes of species extinction”. Now, what are the Causes of species extinction?

(students raising their hands)

Yes, Carmela? 

   

In general terms, species become extinct for the following reasons: *Demographic and genetic phenomena. First of all, species with small populations face a greater risk of extinction. *Destruction of wild habitats. *Introduction of invasive species. *Climate change. *Hunting and illegal trafficking.

Absolutely yes, that is the causes of species extinction. Clap your hands to Carmela. (students clapping) Do you have any questions? No, sir. C. Motivation Now, I will group you into three groups. I have here a box and there are three different colors inside. Pick one and move to your group color. Yellow Group will be here, Blue group will be here and the Green group will be here. I will give you 10 seconds to find your group mates and form a circle and present your yell in class. The first group that will be able to perform first will receive 20 points, second (Students Picks their color) will receive 15 points and third will receive 10 points. Are you ready? Ready Go… Yes, Sir we are ready! (Students are going to their respective groups and preparing their Yell) Yellow group was the first group to perform. Yellow Group -20 points Green group - 15 points Blue group - 10 points (Teacher paste the emoji’s to the score board with corresponding points) 20 points 15 points

10 points Now, I have three envelops these envelops contains

pieces of pictures that is being cut. All you have to do is to arrange this pieces of picture to form a complete image and paste it on the board and perform your yell. The first (Students are listening) group who can finish the task will receive an additional 10 points. Is that clear? Yes, sir. Ready go.

(students are arranging the puzzles)

Great job green group. You are the first group who finished the task. You will receive an additional 10 points.

(Green group paste their work on the board and presenting their yell) Keep going yellow and blue group.

Well done class. Please give a round of applause. What can you see in the picture? Yes, Mark?

(Yellow and Blue group successfully finished the task) (Students clapping)

Good job Mark, have a sit, yeah these three things are the three major components for the plants to make their own I can see a plant, sun and water. food and the process is called “Photosynthesis”.

D. Presentation Our lesson for today is all about “photosynthesis” Before we start, let’s read first the lesson objectives. (Students reading) Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students can; a. explain the process of photosynthesis, b. sketch the process of photosynthesis; and c. give the importance of photosynthesis.

Thank you very much!

E. Discussion What is Photosynthesis? Yellow group please read.

Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that takes place inside a plant, producing food for the plant to survive. Carbon dioxide, water and light are all needed for photosynthesis to take place. Photosynthesis happens in the leaves of a Exactly, that is what Photosynthesis is. Class, Do you ever wonder how this process takes place?

plant.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics Now, I will play a short video and I want you to listen /zvrrd2p/articles/zn4sv9q carefully because after playing this video I will ask you Yes, Sir. some questions. Do you understand? (Teachers Play the video) Video Link https://youtu.be/K8OssnSp8ks

Yes, Sir.

Based from the video you watched, What are the three things that are needed for Photosynthesis? (Students are watching the video) Yes, Amy?

That is Perfect Amy. Thank you! Please sit Down.

Carbon dioxide, water and light are all needed for photosynthesis to take place.

The process of photosynthesis

Plants need food to respire, grow and reproduce. Unlike animals, plants are able to make their own food by the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis takes place in the part of the plant cell containing chloroplasts, these are small structures that contain chlorophyll. For photosynthesis to take place, plants need to take in carbon dioxide (from the air), water (from the ground) and light (usually from the sun). Here is the word equation for photosynthesis: (Students listening) Here is the chemical equation for photosynthesis:

Carbon dioxide enters through the stomata on the underside of the leaf. Water is absorbed by the root hair cells and is transported to the leaf by the xylem vessels. Sunlight provides the energy needed for photosynthesis to take place. In this process carbon dioxide and water are converted into oxygen (a waste product that is released back into the air) and glucose (the source of energy for the plant). Oxygen is released through the stomata on the underside of the leaf; glucose is transported around the plant in the phloem vessels.

Class, do you have question with regards with our lesson? Yes, Jeffery? Good question Jeffrey,

Sir I have question. What is Xylem?

Xylem is the specialized tissue of vascular plants that transports water and nutrients from the plant–soil interface to stems and leaves, and provides mechanical support and storage. Do you understand class? Yes sir. Yes, Dave?

I have another question sir.

Good question Dave.

How about Phloem sir? What is Phloem?

Phloem is living tissue, responsible for transporting food and other organic materials. Any other questions? Great, I guess you all understand our discussion for this No, Sir. morning prepare yourself for the activity. F. Application This time, I will give each group a marker and Manila paper. All you have to do is to draw or sketch how the process of Photosynthesis takes place. If you have some coloring materials you can also utilize that to make your work more colorful and attractive and explain your work. (Teacher’s distribute the materials to the students)

I will give you 10 minutes for that task. You’re time starts now. (Students are doing their task) (After 10 minutes) Alright please paste your work on the Chalkboard. Great job everyone. Explain your work. Let’s start with the yellow group. This is our work,

Good job yellow group, give them round of applause. Next we have the Blue group. Explain your work.

This is the process of photosynthesis where plants make their own food using the sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. (Students clapping)

Good job, Blue group and last but not the least, the This is our work, the process of Photosynthesis. green group. The stomata captures sunlight and uses for photosynthesis together with the water and carbon dioxide.

Good work class. All of you guys did a great job in class. Give yourself a barangay clap. G. Generalization

This is the process of photosynthesis by which plants make their own food using sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. The leaves of the plant contain green pigment called Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll capture sunlight and Stomata captures Carbon dioxide and roots extracts water and the photosynthesis takes place in the leaves of the plant.

During the process of photosynthesis, carbon dioxide enters through the stomata, water is absorbed by the root (students are clapping) hairs from the soil and is carried to the leaves through the xylem vessels. Chlorophyll absorbs the light energy from the sun to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen from water molecules and carbon dioxide absorbed from the air are used in the production of glucose. Furthermore, oxygen is liberated out into the atmosphere through the leaves as a waste product. Glucose is a source of food for plants that provide energy for growth and development, while the rest is stored in the roots, leaves and fruits, for their later use. What is the importance of Photosynthesis? Who can Answer? Yes Delos Reyes?

(Students raising their hands)

Solar energy, transformed by photosynthesis, is The source of countless vegetable, animal and Organic side products, without photosynthesis living things unfortunately won’t survive and eventually die.

What else? Sir, It directly or indirectly affects most life on Yes great answer. Earth. Anyone from the class who can give me another importance of photosynthesis. Sir, It serves as the primary energy process for Yes, Marie? most trees and plants. Good answer Marry. Class you are all correct. Photosynthesis is important to living organisms because it is the number one source of oxygen in the atmosphere. Without photosynthesis, the carbon cycle could not occur, oxygen-requiring life would not survive and plants would die. Green plants and trees use photosynthesis to make food from sunlight, carbon dioxide and water in the atmosphere: It is their primary source of energy. The importance of photosynthesis in our life is the oxygen it produces. Without photosynthesis there would be little to no oxygen on the planet.
