COOLING TOWER QUESTION Calculate the cooling tower ( CT ) capacity in tons of refrigeration (TR) using the following data : Water flow rate through CT : 120 m³ /h Specific heat of water : 1 kCal/kg º C Inlet water temperature: 37 º C Outlet water temperature: 32 º C Ambient wet bulb temperature (WBT): 29 º C SOLUTION Cooling tower capacity (TR) = ( flow rate x density x specific heat x temperature difference ) 3024 = ( 120 x 1000 x 1 x (37-32) 3024 = 198,4 TR Example: Cooling Tower Zone 1 Water flow rate through CT : Specific heat of water : Inlet water temperature: Outlet water temperature: Ambient wet bulb temperature (WBT):
