about the company
Global Insulator Group, founded in the beginning of 2006, is the managing company with united capacities and competitive advantages of two well-known manufacturers of insulators: JSC "Yuzhnouralsky Insulators and Fittings Plant", Russia and Lviv Insulator Company Ltd., Ukraine. The basic purpose of creation of GIG is to increase the manufacturability of production and logistics, more competent and modern approach to the Customer's needs, optimum distribution of capacities, orders and warehouse stocks, sales systematization. More than 3000 people work at both plants. Today the GIGroup' production is used all over the world. More than 60 countries use glass insulators of GIG plants on T&D lines from 0.4 kV to 1150 kV for 50 years of excellent work. The basic competitive advantage of the GIGroup is the combination of high quality and of competitive price. The production quality is proved by researches and tests of leading world laboratories: Kema (Holland), VEIKI-VNL (Hungary), Helsinki University of Technology (Finland), Laboratorio de Alta Tension (Argentina), JSC "VNIIE" (Moscow), JSC "NIIPT" (St. Petersburg). In each country, the supplier of insulators necessarily passes a number of the tests. Yuzhnouralsky Insulators and Fittings Plant (YuAIZ) and Lviv Insulator Company (LIC) are the leaders in their countries, actively supplying both internal and export markets. Insulators and line fittings produced are used in power systems of Russia, at railway enterprises, oil-and-gas and electro-technical industries, in all systems and companies of CIS countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, etc.) and all over the world (Sweden, Finland, UK, Italy, Iran, Syria, Vietnam, etc.).

JSC "Yuzhnouralsky Insulators and Fittings Plant" Was founded in 1957 and now it is one of the Russia's and CIS's leading manufacturers of cap and pin type string insulators from toughened glass, and post and pin-post ceramic insulators, line fittings for overhead power transmission lines. Lviv Insulator Company Ltd. Was founded in 1965. During 40 years more than 260 million of insulators have been produced at the factory. Lv³v Insulator Company produces suspension and pin glass insulators. Both plants possess all facilities, measuring devices and equipment necessary for quality control and testing in compliance with all the requirements stipulated by national and international standards. Due to cooperation with the test laboratories, the plants have the possibilities to carry out any tests related to Customer's request. Due to creation of Global Insulator Group instead of two separate producers the consumer has received the complete, powerful, modern company. The quality management system of both plants JSC "YuAIZ" and LIC Ltd. is certified according to the international standard ISO 9001.

glass insulator production shop
The glass insulator production facilities are capable of manufacturing sixteen types of HV string insulator units of cap and pin type and the range widens constantly. The insulators are made of toughened glass of high insulating ability, mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance and are capable of withstanding mechanical failing loads from 40 to 300 kN in compliance with Russian and international standards requirements. On Customers' request, for regions with a high degree of environment pollution, the insulators are assembled with pins equipped with zinc sleeves. This sleeve, being "the sacrificial electrode", prevents for a long time the pin corrosion caused by d.c. and atmospheric conditions. Thermal treatment (toughening) contributes to high mechanical and electrical properties and thermal strength of the insulator. During subsequent thermal tests, defective articles are rejected which provides for securing the specified characteristics of insulators. After thermal tests all glass parts are subjected to visual inspection and verification of dimensions. After the assembly of glass insulators routine mechanical and electrical tests are carried out.

Locking devices for ball and socket couplings of suspension insulators The plant manufactures insulators with W-clips and split-pins, which corresponds to the Russian and international standards. Split-pin provides more reliable coupling in a string, as the cross-section area of the split-pin is 2 times more than the cross-section area of the W-clip. The insertion of split-pins and bending of the legs are made at the plant. It is necessary to note, that with such a universal coupling it is possible to make a string of insulator units with different types of locking devices. Insulator with W-clip

Suspension glass insulator with zinc sleeve The characteristics of insulators with a zinc sleeve fully correspond to those of insulators without it. The zinc sleeve, being "a sacrificial electrode", prevents for a long time from corrosion of a pin caused by d.c. and environmental conditions (a tropical climate).
