Tahun 2018 merupakan tahun ke-4 dari kehadiran Minikino Film Week (MFW) yang secara dinamis terus-menerus dirancang dan bergerak, berusaha mengambil posisi untuk melengkapi berbagai tayangan di hadapan mata dan pikiran masyarakat. Executive Director, Minikino Film Week 4 Om Swastyastu, In any way and any place, a film festival always relies on the support of many parties, solely to keep these ideas alive, growing and materializing. 2018 is the fourth year of the presence of Minikino Film Week (MFW), which has been dynamically and continuously designed and ran, while trying to find its place to perform its role to complete the various shows presented before the eyes and mind of the community. We are endlessly grateful for the extraordinary support and assistance from all involved parties. Minikino Film Week has happened because we joined hands. Please enjoy the festival.



Menemukan gagasan yang menarik, merencanakannya, dan kemudian melaksanakannya adalah sebuah proses yang memerlukan dedikasi. Namun, tantangan yang sebenarnya adalah menemukan rekan kerja yang bisa diajak untuk bersama-sama mewujudkan ide-ide yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya. Merancang sebuah festival film sama halnya dengan merancang perjalanan ke masa depan. Kami di komite menjalani proses ini setiap tahun. Saya bersyukur telah memiliki sebuah komite kerja yang rela meluangkan waktu untuk bermimpi bersama. Kita percaya bahwa film pendek memiliki kekuatan yang mampu mempertemukan perbedaan-perbedaan yang nantinya menjadi sebuah kisah yang lebih besar. Harapan saya, semoga festival ini juga diterima oleh penonton sebagai sebuah ruang untuk bertemu dan menciptakan dialog yang menarik.

Festival Director, Minikino Film Week 4 Finding ideas and creating plans is always easier than the actual execution of both. However, the real challenge is to find partners who can come together to work on new ideas that have never existed before. Designing a film festival is designing a trip to the future. We on the committee undergo this work load every year. I am so grateful to have colleagues that are willing to spend their time to dream together. We believe that short films have the capability to bring differences together that will later become a bigger story. I hope that this festival will also be acknowledged by the audience as a place to meet and having interesting discussions.

Keunikan Minikino Film Week terletak pada upayanya untuk meraih penonton di daerah pelosok maupun perkotaan untuk menciptakan pengalaman menonton bersama pada layar lebar, dan menumbuhkan budaya menonton bioskop pada era digital di mana layar yang lebih kecil sebagai sumber hiburan terdapat di manamana dengan berbagai pilihan yang melimpah. Minikino percaya bahwa film pendek dengan nilai seni dan literaturnya akan berdampak lebih kuat bila ditonton, dinikmati dan didiskusikan dalam acara istimewa seperti festival film.



Minikino Film Week is unique for how much it tries to reach the audience in rural and urban places, creating a collective film-watching experience on big screens, and developing the cinema culture in the digital era where smaller screens are found everywhere whereas people have an abundance of choice for various sources of entertainment.



Sebagai sebuah tempat bertemu, film festival sangat penting dalam dunia sinema. Festival film menyediakan jaringan dan jalur kontak yang bisa menghubungkan penonton, pembuat film, seniman, produser, perusahaan, penulis dan para sukarelawan untuk terlibat dalam kesenian ini. Festival film merupakan sebuah perayaan untuk memberikan inspirasi bagi semua pihak yang terlibat.



In its fourth year, Minikino Film Week collaborates not only with filmmakers, but also with more multidisciplinary artists and entrepreneurs from various fields. Thus, it popularizes the knowledge about (short) films, expands possibilities, and enables us to discover new creative ideas.



Pada tahun yang keempat, Minikino Film Week tidak hanya berkolaborasi dengan pembuat film, namun juga dengan lebih banyak lagi seniman multidisiplin dan bahkan wirausahawan dari berbagai bidang. Pendekatan ini ditempuh untuk semakin mempopuplerkan wawasan mengenai film (pendek), membuka berbagai kemungkinan dan menemukan berbagai ide kreatif baru.

PAUL AGUSTA



(Writer, Film Producer, Director, Actor) Pendidikan film di Amerika sebelum kembali ke Indonesia pada tahun 2003. Film-film pendeknya telah diputar di berbagai festival film Indonesia dan internasional.



Studied films in the US before returning to Indonesia in 2003. His short films have been shown in Indonesian and international film festivals.



PUTU KUSUMA WIJAYA



(Writer, Film Director)



Lulusan film akademi Amsterdam, Belanda (Amsterdam Hoogschool). Menyutradarai dan terlibat dalam berbagai produksi televisi dan film dokumenter. Pemerhati sosial. Berwiraswasta dan tinggal di Lovina, Bali Utara.

Freelance journalist, editor, and media. Lebih dari 15 tahun bekerja sebagai jurnalis berbasis di Bali untuk beberapa media nasional dan internasional, termasuk Forbes Indonesia, Bloomberg, The New Yorker, The Australian, WIRED, dan lainnya. His second feature “Lelaki Harapan Dunia” (2015) was nominated at the Locarno International Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize at the Fajr International Film Festival. In Malaysia, the film swept 5 major awards at the Malaysia Film Festival Awards, including Best Film and Best Director.

MFW 4 Youth Jury Program is a three-day intensive yet fun training program for youth to be part of the Youth Jury Board of the Minikino Film Week 4, Bali International Short Film Festival. The participants of the Youth Jury Board 2018 were trained and taught directly by the Minikino Film Week committee about how to review and judge preselected short films through a panel of thorough discussions, writing and reviewing for 3 days, taking place in Bali.

Leading Malaysian young director. Film panjang debutnya Flower In The Pocket (2007) memenangkan penghargaan di berbagai festival internasional termasuk Tiger Award di Rotterdam International Film Festival. MFW 4 Youth Jury Camp adalah program pelatihan intensif selama 3 (tiga) hari bagi remaja untuk menjadi bagian dari Youth Jury Board untuk MFW 4, Festival Film Pendek Internasional di Bali. Para anggota Youth Jury Board 2018 dilatih langsung oleh komite inti Minikino Film Week dan diajarkan mengenai cara membaca dan menilai film pendek yang telah dikurasi sebelumnya, melalui panel diskusi, penulisan, dan peninjauan menyeluruh selama 3 hari, bertempat di Bali.



Saya pernah terlibat dalam program workshop Minikino (Air untuk Wasa, 2015). Berkat dorongan dari Rotary Club, orang tua, serta para guru untuk mengikuti pelatihan ini. Setelah ikut Youth Jury Camp, saya akhirnya tahu bagaimana menilai film, karena dulu taunya menonton film ya nonton saja, nggak menilai apa-apa.



I was involved in the Minikino workshop program (Air for Wasa, 2015). Thanks to the encouragement of Rotary Club, parents, and teachers, I could joined this training. After participating in the Youth Jury Camp, I learnt how to appreciate a film. I used to only watch a movie and didn’t think critically about it.



KEANE LEVIA KOENATHALLAH



Grade 11, Tangerang Selatan, Indonesia Saya bercita-cita menjadi filmmaker suatu hari nanti. Melalui Youth Jury Camp 2018, saya belajar keterampilan baru dengan cara berbagi ide, saling membantu, dan berkegiatan yang memperluas wawasan dalam film.



I aspire to be a filmmaker one day. Through the Youth Jury Camp 2018, I have learned new skills through sharing of ideas, helping one another, and involved in activities that expanded my horizons in the field of films.



NATASYA ARYA PUSPARANI



Grade 11, Jakarta, Indonesia Saya suka menonton film; saya menganggapnya hobi. Melalui program ini, saya belajar cara menilai sebuah film dengan benar. Youth Jury Camp 2018 adalah kesempatan yang baik untuk mempelajari hal-hal baru dan mendapatkan pengalaman yang tak terlupakan.



I love watching films; I consider it as a hobby. Through this program, I’ve learned how to review films properly. The Youth Jury Camp 2018 is a good opportunity to learn new things and gain memorable experiences.

Grade 8 (2 SMP), Karangasem, Bali, Indonesia Ikut Youth Jury Camp awalnya takut nggak tau apa-apa. Tapi ternyata di sini dapat belajar banyak selain menilai film. Temanteman yang ikut Youth Jury Camp juga ramah dan saling menyapa.



Initially I was afraid joining Youth Jury Camp, for knowing nothing about film. But it turns out I can learn more than judging films. Everyone who participated in the Youth Jury Camp were also friendly.

I enjoy various forms of literature and have always been curious about how filmmakers process their images in order to deliver them in the form a whole film. The Youth Jury Camp 2018 gave me the experience to judge an art piece presented in a board of jurors, thus I didn’t merely judge the work solely from my own point of view.

POP-UP CINEMA SCHEDULE



Minikino menyelenggarakan sinema layar tancap (pop-up cinema) dengan menggunakan sebuah mobil yang berkeliling ke berbagai tempat. Pop-Up Cinema akan masuk ke desa-desa di pulau Bali, mengajak masyarakat ikut merayakan kemeriahan festival film pendek internasional.

But Farid will marry a woman in his hometown. Kebaya Pengantin is a compilation film produced by Nia together with six other female directors from ASEAN countries.



Koyo Yamashita was born in Tokyo, Japan. He has been festival director of the Image Forum Festival since 2001. He has also been the programmer of the Theater Image Forum in Shibuya, Tokyo, since 2005. Yamashita has also contributed as guest programmer/curator for many film and media art festivals and film events in and outside Japan.

Image Forum berdiri pada bulan Februari 1977. Namun, kegiatannya sudah dimulai sejak tahun 1971 dengan nama “Underground Film Center” yang menayangkan dan mendistribusikan film dan video eksperimental / independen / alternatif. Image Forum adalah sebuah organisasi nirlaba dan tidak menerima dana dari pemerintah nasional maupun lokal. Biaya operasional semata-mata ditanggung dengan menggunakan pendapatan dari program penayangan film dan festival. Image Forum Festival diselenggarakan sejak tahun1987. Setiap tahun, festival ini mengunjungi lebih dari tujuh kota seperti Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Fukuoka dan Nagoya. Festival ini memperkenalkan karya-karya inovatif baru dari Jepang dan juga negara lain.



Image Forum established itself in its current form in February 1977. However, its original activity of screening and distributing experimental / independent / alternative films and videos started a few years earlier, in 1971, under the name “Underground Film Center”. Image Forum is a nonprofit organization and doesn’t receive any grants from national or local governments. The running cost is solely covered by admissions to the cinematheque programs and festivals, rental fee of the collected films and videos, and tuitions for the film-making and video-making school. Katsue Tomiyama is known as the representative of Image Forum. The Image Forum Festival was first held in 1987. This festival tours over seven cities, including Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Fukuoka and Nagoya every year. The Festival introduces innovative new works from Japan as well as other countries.



INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM Sebagai respons terhadap pendaftaran film internasional tahun ini, tim programming Minikino Film Week telah menonton keseluruhan 401 film pendek yang telah didaftarkan melalui jalur ini. Hasilnya, 114 judul mendapatkan jadwal tayang di layar dan 51 film masuk ke dalam seleksi shortlist. Jumlah film yang masuk tahun ini mengalami penurunan dari tahun 2015 (6556) dan turun sebanyak 11% dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya, yang juga merupakan tahun pertama di mana festival ini mulai menerapkan ketentuan terkait biaya pendaftaran seleksi. Tahun ini kategori fiksi mendominasi (49%), diikuti film pendek untuk anak-anak dan remaja baik liveaction, animasi maupun campuran (19%), animasi untuk dewasa (13%), dokumenter (12%) dan eksperimental (3%). Tema teknologi, kemanusiaan, imigran dan kesehatan jiwa merupakan tema yang semakin mendominasi perhatian para pembuat film di dunia jika dibandingkan dengan tahun-tahun sebelumnya. Hal yang kami perhatikan dalam memilih filmfilm pendek ini adalah kekuatan film pendek dan cerita yang dikandungnya. Tantangan kami yang selanjutnya adalah memilih film-film pendek yang dapat dirangkai dalam sebuah tema tertentu untuk ditayangkan bersama. Kami melakukan berbagai pendekatan perspektif mulai dari genre, ide yang disampaikan, nilai artistik, filosofi, bahkan kedekatan perasaan universal yang mungkin ditimbulkan setelah menonton film tersebut. Kami menyampaikan rasa hormat yang tertinggi untuk seluruh pembuat film yang telah mendaftarkan filmnya untuk disertakan dalam proses seleksi kami dan telah memberikan kepercayaan kepada Minikino Film Week untuk menampilkan karyanya dalam rangkaian program untuk dinikmati bersama dengan penonton. Responding to the international submissions this year, the Minikino Film Week programming team has watched all 401 short films submitted. As a result, 114 titles made it to live screen events and 51 films were shortlisted. The number of films submitted this year decreased from 2015 (6556 titles) and decreased by 11% compared to the previous year, which was also the first year in which the festival apply the submission fees. This year, the fiction category has dominated (49%), followed by short films for children and adolescents both live-action, animation and mix (19%), animation for adults (13%), documentary (12%) and experimental (3 %). The themes of technology, humanity, immigrants and mental health have increasingly dominated the attention of filmmakers, compared to previous years. Our main consideration in selecting these short films was the power of short films and the storytelling form. Our next challenge was to select short films that could be arranged in a particular theme to be screened together in one program. Different approaches from various perspectives were carried out; from the genre, ideas presented, artistic values, philosophies and even to the intimate universal feelings that may be stimulated after watching the film. We would like to express our deepest respect to all filmmakers who have submitted their short film for selection, and we are grateful for all the trust given to Minikino Film Week to present their work in a series of our programs, to be shared with the festival audience. ANNUAL COMPETITION



The Minikino’s committee consists of volunteering professionals, artists and film enthusiasts who works overtime to support the non-profit organization. The running cost is solely covered by private funds, sponsors, and also occasional government funds. Most support is in the form of in-kind, supporting various organizational activities. Minikino believes that culture can only exist and develop with exchange, not isolation. Through screenings followed by discussion, Minikino promotes exchange and networking amongst filmmakers and the audience. By distributing and encouraging people to see what other people are doing, Minikino ensures that the circle of creation can be elevated into a spiral, in which better and better work are continuously being created.

Program ini merupakan sebuah kegiatan tahunan dalam bentuk pertukaran program film pendek yang dilakukan dalam skala regional. Minikino mulai bergabung pada tahun 2003, membuka jalur pendistribusian program film pendek Indonesia ke negara-negara lain di kawasan Asia Tenggara. Setelah lama menjadi bagian rutin dari Minikino Monthly Screening and Discussion, sejak tahun 2015 screening S-Express dipindahkan menjadi bagian dari festival film pendek tahunan Minikino Film Week. Sampai saat ini, S-Express masih merupakan satu-satunya jalur pertukaran program film pendek yang menghubungkan negara-negara di Asia Tenggara ini. Bagi masing-masing negara yang terlibat, program tahunan S-Express memiliki makna yang berbeda-beda, dan lebih jauh merupakan bagian penting dari sejarah perkembangan film pendek di Asia Tenggara. It is an annual event in the form of short film exchange programs conducted on a regional scale. Minikino joined in 2003, opening the doors of Indonesia’s short program distribution to neighboring countries in the Southeast Asia region. Having been a regular part of the Minikino Monthly Screening and Discussion for such a long time, in 2015 the S-Express screening was moved to become part of the annual film festival, Minikino Film Week. Until now, S-Express is still the only channel for the exchange of short film programs that connects these countries in Southeast Asia. For each country involved, the annual S-Express projects have different meanings, and is furthermore an important part of the history of the short films development in Southeast Asia. This year is the 16th year since S-Express was first initiated and has become an important movement for the production of short films in Southeast Asia, with an astounding network to be noted.

GERAKAN Pertukaran program film pendek antar kota di indonesia Gerakan “Indonesia Raja” adalah kegiatan tahunan berskala nasional. Sepanjang tahun, kegiatan ini terbagi dalam 3 tahap utama, sebagai berikut:

Mengundang para programmer di seluruh Indonesia.



2. PROGRAMMING FILM PENDEK



Programmer terpilih membuka pendaftaran film pendek di wilayahnya masing-masing, mengundang para filmmaker untuk membuat program film pendek berdasarkan wilayah kerjanya.



3. DISTRIBUSI PROGRAM



Semua program disiapkan untuk didistribusikan kembali ke masyarakat dan juga memiliki kesempatan untuk berkeliling ke negara-negara lain. Minikino juga membuka pendaftaran untuk para penyelenggara pemutaran film serta festival-festival film di berbagai kota di Indonesia yang tertarik untuk memutar program Indonesia Raja dalam rangkaian acara mereka.



The “Indonesia Raja” movement is an annual nationalscale activity. Throughout the year, this activity is divided into three main stages as follows: 1. SELECTION OF SHORT FILM PROGRAMMERS Call for programmers based on areas or cities across Indonesia. 2. SHORT FILMS PROGRAMMING The selected programmers start an open call for short films, inviting filmmakers in their area to participate in the program. The programmers independently select the short films submitted in their region and create a program with a maximum duration of 60 minutes. 3. PROGRAM DISTRIBUTION All programs are prepared and redistributed to the community and has the possibility to travel to other countries. Minikino also invites film screening organizers and film festivals in various cities across Indonesia to register themselves if they are interested in screening the “Indonesia Raja” program in their series of events. “Indonesia Raja 2018” is the 4th year edition of this program.

Marlowe Bandem is a DJ, fixed-gear cyclist, creator of multi- media events, manager of two micro-financing banks, and vice chairman of the Widya Dharma Shanti Foundation that oversees STIKOM Bali, the largest ICT (information and communication technology) college in Bali. In 2017, she launched her 15 year long reflection of personal exploration on the essence of tradition of the people of Tenganan Pagringsingan, a village in the East of Bali into a memoar book: Mata Jiwa, Into the Eye of Life. Anton Muhajir is a journalist based in Bali for several national and international media, including Forbes Indonesia, Bloomberg, The New Yorker, The Australian, WIRED, and others. Active in media literacy communities and digital rights advocacy networks including BaleBengong.id and SAFEnet. He is also member of the MFW 4 Jury Board. Ratna Odata is the founder of Cata Odata in 2014, an interdisciplinary art house in Bali. Occasionally she works as a set designer specializing in theater and dance performance.



Agung Yudha is a Balinese creator. He is wearing many hats as filmmaker, street photographer, and musician. Active musician in a rock band, MR HIT and also as a director in Studi Yo Films, Dread Team, and Manikamerta Documentary. Faiza Muhamad is a freelance writer, storyteller and language professional based in Bali, Indonesia. Hanya 10 kelompok berhasil mengumpulkan karyanya dalam batas waktu 34 jam. Berikut adalah 4 karya nominasi, serta daftar karya yang memenuhi kriteria seleksi. Ke-4 nominasi ini dipilih dengan pertimbangan kemampuan kreatif mereka menuturkan cerita dalam format film pendek dan kemampuan berkreasi menggunakan elemen-elemen wajib secara wajar ke dalam plot, dan tetap mempertahankan pencapaian teknis, serta nilai-nilai hiburan yang dapat dinikmati penonton awam sekalipun.



The compulsory elements of 2018 is to make a short film without dialogue, with audio elements laughing sounds, running and a scene with tears. Only 10 groups that meet the 34 hour time limit. Following are the 4 nominees, and the list of all the works that meet the selection criteria. These 4 nominees were chosen with considerations, the creative storytelling in short film format and natural application of the compulsory elements in their plot, while maintaining technical achievements and entertainment values for the audiences.



SHORTLIST adalah film-film pendek yang lolos seleksi tahap pertama dari pendaftaran internasional 2018. Pada tahap berikutnya, Minikino Film Week 4 mengambil keputusan akhir dan menyelesaikan proses programming. Karya-karya yang termasuk dalam kategori shortlist telah diundang untuk diperhatikan lebih dekat oleh festival. Namun, dengan berbagai pertimbangan mendalam, akhirnya film-film ini tidak terpilih untuk masuk ke acara layar screening dalam sesi program internasional. Minikino tetap menghargai status Shortlist sebagai sebuah pencapaian. Semua film dalam SHORTLIST masih bisa ditonton oleh para tamu dan programmer festival di area Short Film Library yang bertempat di MFW 4 Festival Lounge. SHORTLIST is the earliest stage in the selection process out of the whole 2018 international submission. On the next stage, the Minikino Film Week 4 makes its final decision and finishes the programming process. The titles that are on the shortlist have been selected to be on the festival’s close consideration. However, due to the limited schedules and festival’s venues availability, they did not get into the international live screening program. Minikino Film Week 4 considers the Shortlist status as an achievement. All films that have made it to the SHORTLIST will be available at the Short Film Library located at the MFW 4 Festival Lounge, and are accessible to be previewed exclusively by guests and festival programmers during the festival, 6 – 13 October 2018.

MELATI DANES DANCE STUDIO Di luar pendidikan formalnya di bidang teknik sipil dan manajemen, Melati Danes telah menyelami dunia tari sejak berusia balita. Menari telah menghantarkannya hingga terlibat dalam berbagai peristiwa budaya yang penting, baik di tingkat lokal, nasional, hingga internasional, yang juga memperkuat kecintaanya pada seni tari. Bagi Melati Danes, menari adalah pembebasan bagi tubuh dan pikiran. Studio Tari Melati Danes melestarikan budaya Bali dan Indonesia untuk tetap hidup dan berkembang. Kegiatan latihan studionya ini secara rutin dilakukan di Danes Art Veranda, Jalan Hayam Wuruk 159, Denpasar. Latihan tari yang diadakannya berfokus pada Tari Legong gaya Peliatan, sebuah desa di wilayah Ubud, Bali. Dipilihnya gaya Peliatan dikarenakan oleh tingkat kesulitannya yang tinggi dan jarangnya tarian ini dipentaskan. Dalam beberapa kesempatan, Studio Tari Melati Danes juga mempopulerkan kembali kesenian tari tradisional yang sudah mulai ditinggalkan, seperti Tari Pendet, Tari Legong dan beberapa tarian lainnya. Studio tari ini dijalankan dengan komitmen yang kuat. Mengusung prestasi dan pengalaman tampil di berbagai ajang penting berskala internasional, Studio Tari Melati Danes akan kembali mempersembahkan tariannya sebagai bagian penting dari acara pembukaan Festival Film Pendek Internasional, Minikino Film Week 4, mempersembahkan budaya Bali serta keunikannya kepada seluruh tamu undangan.



Melati Danes has started exploring the world of dance from an early age, beyond her formal education in the field of civil engineering and management. Through dancing, she became involved in various eminent cultural events on the local, national and international scale, which has intensified her love for dance. For Melati Danes, dancing is a liberation for the body and mind. Melati Danes Dance Studio preserves Balinese and Indonesian culture in order to stay alive as well as thrive. The dancing exercise activities are routinely held at Danes Art Veranda, Hayam Wuruk Street 159, Denpasar. These dance trainings focus on a particular style of Legong Dance from Peliatan, a village in the Ubud region, Bali. The Peliatan style was chosen because of its high level of difficulty and also because this style is simply rarely performed these days. On a number of occasions, Melati Danes Dance Studio has also repopularized various traditional dances that have been rather forgotten, such as the Pendet Dance, Legong Dance and a number of others. This dance studio is run with great commitment. Carrying out the achievements and experiences of performing at various important international events, the Melati Danes Dance Studio will once again present its dance as an important part during the opening ceremony of the Bali International Short Film Festival, Minikino Film Week 4, presenting Balinese culture and its uniqueness to all the festival guests.

KUNANG, JEWELRY BY DIAN SURI (DISUR) Disur jatuh cinta dengan dunia perhiasan sejak ia melakukan kerja praktek di salah satu perusahaan perhiasan di Bali ketika ia masih menjadi mahasiswi di Institut Teknologi Bandung, Jurusan Desain Produk. Setelah lulus dan bekerja di Industri perhiasan selama beberapa saat di Jakarta, ia melanjutkan studinya pada program Jewelry Design di Instituto Europeo di Design, di Milan, Italia. Setelah lulus, Disur kembali ke Indonesia pada tahun 2011 dan bekerja di salah satu perusahaan luxury jewelry mendunia yang berpusat di Bali. Setelah bekerja di industri perhiasan selama 8 tahun, ia kemudian meneruskan perjalanannya dengan mendirikan Kunang Jewelry, dilatarbelakangi oleh kepeduliannya terhadap masalah sampah logam. Kunang Jewelry mengusung tema upcycle dengan menggunakan bahan berupa kuningan bekas yang diolah kembali sehingga menjadi koleksi perhiasan yang bernuansa modern dan minimalis. Selain penggunaan material bekas, Disur mencoba membuat koleksi yang ramah terhadap lingkungan dan juga penggunanya, baik dari segi finansial maupun fungsi. Sesuai dengan prinsip bahwa kecantikan itu terpancar dari luar dan dalam, ia percaya bahwa perhiasan itu dapat berbicara tentang berbagai hal. Ia berusaha mengkomunikasikan bahwa perhiasan itu bukan hanya sekedar penampilan yang menawan, tetapi juga apa yang dibawa dan apa yang dirasakan oleh penggunanya. Kunang Jewelry berkolaborasi dengan para pengrajin Bali, dan dipadukan dengan ilmu yang Disur miliki dari pengalamannya bekerja di industri ini, Kunang Jewelry dapat menawarkan kualitas yang terbaik dalam ranahnya. Disur fell in love with jewelry ever since her internship at one of the jewelry brands in Bali, when she was still a student at Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Product Design.



After she graduated, she worked in the jewelry industry a short while and soon decided to study Jewelry Design at Instituto Europeo di Design in Milan, Italy. Disur returned to Indonesia in 2011, and then moved to Bali to work with one of the world-renowned luxury jewelry brands based on the island. After working in the industry for 8 years, she has taken the next big step of her journey by establishing her own brand, Kunang, owing to her concern towards scrap metal. Kunang commits to the upcycle theme where it uses recycled brass and turns it into modern and minimalist jewelry collections. Aside from using scrap metal as it material, Disur tries to create not only eco-friendly but also consumerfriendly products, both financially and in terms of their function, as she strongly believes that jewelry can speak rather loud about many things. She wants to communicate the idea that jewelry is not only about its visual and pretty looks, but that it also stands for what it can bring to its wearer. Kunang Jewelry collaborates with Balinese artisans, and combined with Disur’s experience in the jewelry industry, it presents the best quality in its range.

Anak Tangguh Foundation, yang lebih akrab disapa Sanggar Anak Tangguh, memproklamirkan diri sebagai sanggar yang mengusung konsep pendidikan alternatif, yaitu pendidikan yang berkonsep holistik dengan memakai kesenirupaan sebagai salah satu medianya. Pendidikan alternatif yang dimaksud dapat diamati dari proses pembangunan yang digagas oleh warga lokal dengan bergotong-royong, sebagai respons atas kondisi pendidikan yang ada saat ini. Gerakan sanggar ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesenjangan pendidikan yang terjadi antara masyarakat perkotaan dan pedesaan, serta kesenjangan kesempatan untuk mengakses pendidikan antara lapisan masyarakat yang kaya dan lapisan masyarakat yang miskin. Sanggar Anak Tangguh menggunakan alam dan lingkungan sekitar sebagai sarana pendidikan, seperti halnya memanfaatkan sawah (Subak Kulidan), sungai (Sungai Wos dan ekosistemnya) dan pantai (Pantai Ketewel) sebagai sarana bermain dan belajar. Dalam pelaksanaan programnya, sanggar ini juga mengupayakan semaksimal mungkin agar melibatkan anak-anak dalam kepanitiaan, sebagai sarana dan media untuk belajar berorganisasi. Sanggar Anak Tangguh juga mengusung dan mengembangkan masyarakat yang pro multikultural.



The Anak Tangguh Foundation, better known as Sanggar Anak Tangguh, proclaims itself as a studio that carries the concept of alternative education, which is a holistic concept of education utilizing creativity as one of its media. The alternative education in question can be observed from the development process of this studio, which was initiated by the local community through mutual collaboration, in response to current conditions related to education. This movement was triggered by the educational gap between urban and rural areas, as well as the opportunity gap in access to education between layers of rich society and the poor. Sanggar Anak Tangguh makes great use of nature and the environment as means of education. They utilize the rice fields (Subak Kulidan), rivers (Wos River and its ecosystem) and beaches (Ketewel Beach) as means of playing and learning. Furthermore, in the implementation of their programs, this studio tries their very best in involving the children in the committee as much as possible, in the hope that these activities would serve as a media for them to learn their organizational skills. Sanggar Anak Tangguh also promotes and develops a pro-multicultural community.



TEATER KALANGAN



Teater Kalangan merupakan sebuah kelompok nirlaba dalam bidang seni pertunjukan. Nama “Kalangan” berasal dari bahasa Bali yang berarti ruang berkumpul. Nama tersebut dipilih untuk mewakili proses kreatif Teater Kalangan yang cenderung menekankan eksplorasi terhadap ruang alternative sebagai objek pertunjukannya. Dalam proses kreatifnya, anggota teater ini biasanya berkumpul, berdiskusi, dan merespon ruang, mulai dari benda, tempat, bangunan, waktu, suasana, sampai wilayah sosiokultural masyarakat. Aktor dalam hal ini menjadi titik pertemuan yang menghubungkan sutradara, ruang, teks, serta penonton. Kelompok ini tidak mengusung suatu gaya tertentu. Teater Kalangan is a non-profit group in the field of performing arts. The name “Kalangan” derives from a Balinese word which translates into ‘a gathering space’. That name was chosen to represent the theater’s creative process which tends to emphasize on the exploration of the alternative space as the object of their performances. During their creative process, the members of this theater would gather, engage in discussions and respond to their surrounding space, starting from the items, places, buildings, time, atmosphere, to the sociocultural zone of the communities. In this scenario, the actors perform as a meeting point that connects the director, space, text as well as the audience. This theater does not commit to any particular style. They merely follow and explore all the possibilities which they find essential to materialize into the form of theater, and for the rest they leave it to the audience to each have their own interpretation.

Saat ini hampir semua orang mempunyai sebuah kamera, semua orang bisa memotret, tapi tidak semua orang menyadari bahwa mereka bisa bercerita lebih banyak lagi melalui rangkaian visual atau foto. Imajinasi, rasa, pengalaman, latar belakang kehidupan, pendidikan, kultur, tradisi hingga memori masa kecil bisa menjadi ide dasar atau gagasan dalam bercerita. #SAYABERCERITA adalah sebuah inisiatif dan movement untuk bercerita dengan menggunakan medium fotografi. Sebuah pergerakan untuk memperkenalkan kembali fotografi sebagai media komunikasi visual, yang kemudian mengajak untuk menerapkannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. #SAYABERCERITA dikemas dalam sebuah kelas fotografi dengan metode storytelling yang sekarang sudah berjalan 2 angkatan. Program lain dari #SAYABERCERITA meliputi diskusi dan pameran foto, serta kolaborasi dengan berbagai pihak untuk mengadakan workshop ataupun kegiatan lainnya.



Nowadays almost everyone has a camera, everyone can take pictures, but not everyone realizes that they can tell even more through visual or photo sequences. Imagination, taste, experience, background of life, education, culture, tradition as well as childhood memories can be the basic idea or concept in storytelling. #SAYABERCERITA is an initiative and movement to tell stories using photography. It is a movement to reintroduce photography as a visual communication medium, which further on invites people to apply this activity in their daily life. #SAYABERCERITA is presented in a photography class using the storytelling method, and has been running for 2 seasons now. The other programs of #SAYABERCERITA include photo discussions and exhibitions, as well as collaborations with various parties in presenting workshops or other activities.



SYAFIUDIN VIFICK



Syafiudin Vifick adalah seorang visual storyteller. Dengan menggunakan medium fotografi, dia mengerjakan proyek-proyek personalnya berupa photo essay dan travel story. Dia tertarik pada isu-isu kemanusiaan (humanity), sociocultural, lingkungan, antropologi dan isu-isu kontemporer. Sehari-hari Vifick mengerjakan fotografi komersil dan juga menjadi kontributor untuk beberapa media. Karyanya juga dimuat di beberapa media, seperti Sriwijaya Air Magz, National Geographic Traveller Indonesia, senidiharilibur.com dan berbagai media lainnya.

MARTINO



Martino adalah fotografer lepas yang menyukai seni dan filsafat. Selain untuk tujuan komersil, ia juga menggunakan medium fotografi sebagai cara untuk mengekspresikan gagasangagasannya. Ia selalu tergugah untuk merespon isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan kemanusiaan dan lingkungan, yang kemudian dijadikannya karya-karya photo essay. Setahun terakhir Martino juga aktif membuat video atau film pendek. Pria dengan akun instagram @martinowayan ini tinggal dan menetap di Bali.



Martino is a freelance photographer who likes art and philosophy. In addition to commercial work, he also uses photography as a way to express his ideas. Di Bali, dia membentuk komunitas fotografi ‘Semut Ireng’ yang berkonsentrasi pada fotografi lubang jarum. Kemudian, dia juga mendirikan program fotografi #SayaBercerita, yakni sebuah inisatif dan movement yang bercerita melalui medium fotografi. Program tersebut berupa kelas fotografi, pameran fotografi dan pembuatan buku fotografi. Selain itu, Vifick aktif mengikuti pameran fotografi dan seni rupa, serta mengajar fotografi di berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Syafiudin Vifick is a visual storyteller. Using photography, he has been working on his personal projects in the forms of photo essays and travel stories. He is interested in humanity, sociocultural, environment, anthropology and contemporary issues. Vifick’s daily work is in the field of commercial photography and he is also performs as a contributor for several media. His work was published by Sriwijaya Air Magz, National Geographic Traveler Indonesia, senidiharilibur.com and various other media.



In Bali, he founded a photography community called ‘Semut Ireng’ which focuses on pinhole photography. Later on, he initiated the #SayaBercerita photography program, which is an initiative and movement which tells stories through the medium of photography. The programs of #SayaBercerita include photography classes, photography exhibitions and producing photography books. In addition, Vifick actively participates in photography and fine art exhibitions, and he also teaches photography classes in various regions of Indonesia.
