Letter of motivation Dear Sir/Madam, I appreciate this opportunity to provide further information in support of my application for Master of Arts in Sustainable Development Management at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences for summer semester 2020. As, I was born in a village, I had the opportunity to closely observe the village people and their agriculture dependent life style. I was surprised after noticing that the large farmers are the major stakeholder of different agricultural development policies by the government. Although these policies were implemented for overall agricultural development, the small and marginal farmers were always deprived. From those days my dream was to serve the socially excluded groups and work with the policy and planning commission of my country. To accomplish my dream, I have completed Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Bangladesh Agricultural University. I have sufficient knowledge on Economics and Statistics related subjects but I found some other courses more interesting like Agricultural policy and planning, Institutional economics and rural development, Economic Growth and development, Economics of agricultural development, Gender relations in agriculture, Project planning, monitoring and evaluation etc which I have taken during my bachelor and masters degree. I have attended many extra lectures of visiting professors and workshops arranged by my university and other development projects. I worked for one year in ACIAR project as a research assistant and individually conduct a thesis entitled "Economic and Social Benefit of Growing Peanut instead of Boro Rice in a Sweet Water Scarce Area of Bangladesh" under the guidance of Professor Dr. Hasneen Jahan. I found the people of coastal zones of my country fighting with extreme poverty and hunger. This situation can only be improved by implementing effective and efficient development policies including better quality education, gender equality and sustainable agriculture. I have been awarded National Science and Technology (NST) fellowship for my research work. I have presented my research at the "International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture (ICSA 2019)" which is under process of publication now. A strong theoretical and practical knowledge is needed to identify development issues and implement sustainable development projects, as well as to critically examine these with respect to their effectiveness. I believe that further education at your university will allow me to acquire updated knowledge about these issues. Besides higher education, the

opportunity to study in Germany would serve as a bridge between language and cultural exchange and relationships between students of different countries. Since your university is the only university which offers a program that meets my personal interests, I am very much excited and have decided to place my application here. After reading the curriculum and the course requirements carefully, I believe that it perfectly matches my research interests and profile. The international environment of the campus attracted me also. Being a hardworking and committed student, I am confident that I will be able to cope with the requirement set by the international curriculum of your university and play a significant part in the implementation of the 17 sustainable development goals, thus contributing to creating a more equitable and sustainable world.
