Wash the head clean to remove the mud deposited while pulling out of hole in the last descent. Verify mud deposits are removed from the thermometer housings and the fishing neck.

Inspect the fishing neck for burrs or nicks that can cause damage to the cable armor.

Inspect the position of the snap ring (H329445) on the fishing neck.



Note Verify the opening in the snap ring is NOT positioned over the gap where the two halves of the fishing neck meet. This ensures equal coverage over both halves of the fishing neck.

This section is for electrical inspection of the the LEH-QT with a bulkhead to head adapter (H701416). If running and ECRD and an ECRI bulkhead (100082292), go to the electrical inspection section of the ECRI SWI 6632333.



Potential Severity: Serious Potential Loss: Personnel Hazard Category: Electrical



Electrical damage to the ECRI bulkhead can occur if improper continuity and insulation resistance checks are performed.



Prepare the 31-pin Extender



4.1 Step 1.

Set the toggle switch to “1 AND 4 DISCONNECT”.



Quality Note Using the proper extender (H245349) ensures that voltage is not applied to load cell lines 14, 15, 19 and 20.

Perform a conductor continuity check Check conductor continuity with a Simpson meter or equivalent for each conductor: 1 thru 7 and 10.

Set the Simpson meter on high scale 0–100.



2.



Put the CSS in the CIS position.



3.



Place the red lead in position number 1 on the 31-pin extender.



4.



Clip the black lead to mass (bulkhead - H701315).



5.



Short out line 1 to mass at the CIS.



Note The resistance should be equal to the resistance of the cable conductor line plus ground. If the continuity reading is not acceptable, troubleshoot the problem.



Note Troubleshooting consist of checking BCC connections and downhole hook-up wires. Refer to the LEH-QT SLS-1 SWI, InTouch 6586651. 6.



Repeat steps 1 through 5 for lines 2 thru 7 and 10. Remember to move the red lead to the next position on the 31-pin extender and short out the corresponding line at the CIS.

Insert the black lead in position 28 and the red lead in position 29 of the 31-pin extender. Resistance should be less than 1 ohm.

Put the CSS in the CIS position.



2.



Place the positive lead (red) of the megger on position 1 in the 31-pin extender (H245349).



3.



Place the common lead (black) on the body of the bulkhead.



4.



Measure the IR. The insulation resistance should be greater than 500 Mohms. If the IR reading is not acceptable, troubleshoot the problem.



Note Troubleshooting consist of checking BCC connections and downhole hook-up wires. Refer to the LEH-QT SLS-1 SWI, InTouch 6586651. 5.



Repeat steps 2 through 4 for wires 2 thru 7, 28 to mass and 29 to mass.



Note Line 10 is connected to mass; therefore, it will be continuous. 6.



Check the insulation resistance between each conductor. Place the black lead in position one and the red lead in position 2 of the 31-pin extender.



Leave the black lead on a conductor, move the red lead to each of the remaining conductors



Take the measurement. The insulation resistance should be greater than 500 Mohms. Move the red lead to the next conductor.

Repeat step 6 for the remaining lines.
