Language Password: Used for language limit, optional language: Simplified Chinese; Traditional Chinese; English; Ink Password: Used for ink consumption limit.

4.16. Save/Load Settings There’re two ways to backup settings: save settings to main board or computer. 1. Save to board: Since there’s some memory in main board, we could save settings (including calibration settings) to main board, and restore the settings back as needed. However, the memory is limited, there’s only one package of settings could be saved in main board, that is to say, save settings to main board will replace current settings in it. Click Main Menu/Setting/Save to printer to save settings to main board, and click “load from printer” to restore settings; 2.Save to computer: Click Main Menu/Setting/save to save settings to a .xml file. Since there’s no limit in this case, we could backup multiple files in order to markup in different time stamp. Recommend name rules: time stamp to avoid confusing when restore settings from multiple backup files.

4.17. Debug UV shutter 1. Set UV shutter timing ➢ Light-left ON/Light-right ON: used to turn on shutter of light-left and light-right. Check and click “OK” to confirm setting. ➢ Print to left/Print to right: used to control shutter switch during each print direction. ➢ Range first nozzle: define the distance between the middle of lamp and the first print head; ➢ Initial lead of shutter: shutter controlled by air cylinder might lead some delay. Input the delay time could help to correct it.

4.18. Set ink pump action when time out

Ink pump might be keep pumping all the time when there’s malfunction. We provide two solutions: 1. Buzzer on board sound a warning without intervene in pumping; 2. Buzzer on board sound a warning and forced to stop pumping when pumping ink time out. Click Main Menu/Tools/Auto stop pump ink when time out to enable it.

Chapter 5 How should I Do 5.1.

Select an Appropriate Print Accuracy

Related Factors: 1. Print resolution: for example: 360*1440, the more the better. But the print head resolution, fire frequency, drop size are all need to be considered. For smaller fire frequency, high print resolution will lead to lower print speed. For smaller print head resolution, high print resolution needs more passes to cover. For larger drop size, high print resolution may cause accumulation which affect print overall effect. 2. Pass Number: In the case of the same print resolution, cover with more passes could get higher print accuracy. But the print speed is inversely proportional to pass number which need to be considered. 3. Feather: used for compensate pass banding and different shades of strips, and doesn’t affect print speed as much as increasing pass number. 4. Stable color order: compensate different shades of stripes without decreasing print speed. 5. High Precision and high speed: High precision makes better contribution to compensate different shades of stripes; High speed leads higher printer speed. Get version information

Click Main Menu/Help/About to get version information. SW: software version; FW: firmware version; MB: MB version; MT: MT version; HB: HB version; ID: Board ID.

5.3.

Update Firmware and software

5.3.1 Update firmware For bug fixed and new functions supported, we need to update firmware. Click Main Menu/Tools/Update to update firmware. Please keep monitoring the updating process. If there’s any failure during the process, please note the process percentage to report to our technical support.

5.3.2 Updating software For bug fixed and new functions supported, we need to update software Printer Manager. Step1: Please uninstall Printer Manager first; Step2: Delete the installation directory; Step3: Install the new install package; Step4: Configure factory setting (factory writer).

5.4.

Virtual Printing Test

To simplify printer aging test, Printer Manager provides virtual printing test function.

PrinterManager User Manual Add “factory.usr” file in Printer Manger installation directory, restart Printer Manager: Main Menu/Setting/Debug/VPrint Tab

Click “Start Print” to start and click “Stop Print” to stop. Pre-Setting for virtual printing: Quit Printer Manager and launch Factorywriter, click “extend setting” tab. 1.Input print resolution. For example: KM1024 42PL, input 180, represents virtual printing test in 180 mode. 2.Input print width for virtual printing test.

UV Curing Printing

5.5.1 Continuously Printing in Y-direction Continually printing in Y-direction: Auto update Y print origin automatically to ensure continuously printing jobs. Platen model printer only. Job2

5.5.3 Forward and Backward Printing Platen model printer only. For Y-axis movement direction during printing: 1st job: from back to front; 2nd job: from front to back; And etc. Print back and forth automatically without manual intervention. Input copies if you need multiple times forward and backward printing.

5.5.4 Multi times Printing To compared with the last “forward and backward printing”, we could also print multi times in the Y direction: Forward only or backward only. Uncheck “forward and backward printing” and “Y continues printing”.

5.5.5 White (Varnish) Printing There’re two ways to install white print head: staggered and aligned. We could layer it for printing.

Staggered

Aligned

Aligned: White Ink used for under based or covered. Under based: Optional: All/local. All: Select “all” in White setting, input appropriate ink density; And input “2” in “Layer Num”, select “White” for Layer1, “Color” for Layer2. Local: input appropriate in density; (1) Print white under image: (2) Print white under color: select color in dropdown list.

Staggered: We used white ink for under based or covered in this case. There’s no need to layer print head.

5.5.6

Multi-Layer Printing

Multi-layer printing is widely used in UV printing. For example: print white+white+color+varnish.

5.5.7 Emboss Effect Printing For emboss effect printing, there’re some parts need to be embossed. 1. Create embossed parts as spot color in PS or AI; 2. RIP the image file to prt or prn; 3. Printer Manager: set white ink setting: select “RIP”; 4. Set white ink as multiple layers as needed. For example: white ink: 10 layers, color ink: 1 layer.

5.5.8 Multiple Ink Printing In UV printing, higher color saturation is needed. We could use multiple ink to improve ink density. 1. Print resolution needs to be higher than corresponding pass. For example: print 360*1440 in 8 pass using KM1024_MH print head, 2 times ink printing is available; for 360*720 in 8 pass, 4 times ink printing is available. Because print head resolution is 360, using 4 pass will cover 1440 printing, if switch to 8 pass, it could be printing with 2 times ink. 2. Select 2 or 3 means corresponding ink density times, select multiple ink for maximum multiple. 5.5.9 Mirror Print Horizontal mirror the image Used for transparent media printing (print image on one side, look from the other side)

5.5.10 Feather Print Recommendation: 8 pass+200% or more, gradient feather for UV printing; If there’s more glossary banding difficult to eliminate, please try advance and UV feather.
