Early Days and Recommended Upgrades Spring Events: Horse and Merchant

Other than Festivals, there are two notable events in Spring. On Spring 3, the merchant Huang will arrive and you'll be introduced to him upon exiting your house that morning. Huang does not have a heart indicator, but he is a marriage candidate!

Huang's Shop Huang will set up shop in Zack's house. It is likely that he conned Zack into it, because Zack's a nice guy and Huang has some shady prices. If you really want to, you can buy his pricey Toy Herb seeds, but you're better off just foraging those items. There are some items that you might want eventually though, like the unfortunately expensive Truth Gem, and the Pineapple Seeds which you can plant in Summer for a very nice profit. The next day, Spring 4, Mugi will show up at your doorstep with a foal. Note that you need to have spoken with Mugi at least once for this to occur. If not he will show up after you talk to him. He will leave this foal in your care until it is fully grown in 90 days. If you want to keep the horse once it grows up, it's important that care for it so that it reaches a high enough affection level. To properly satisfy Mugi, you will need to talk to the horse and brush it daily. Work on unlocking Van by making offerings to the H. Goddess as mentioned above so that you can also purchase Treats to give your horse. If Mugi feels like the horse is not well raised by the time he returns, he will take the horse away from you. If this happens to you, fortunately Mugi will give you another shot at raising a foal the next year, it just means that it will be a while before you have an adult horse to ride.

Building up Your Farm & Obtaining the Fishing Rod

As you settle into your new life, continue to forage and slowly build up the amount of crops you have planted, as many as you can reasonably manage with your stamina and time until you can befriend the Harvest Sprites enough to where they start helping out with your chores. Once you get the Fishing Rod, do some fishing in your spare time as it is a great way to make money early game so you don't have to rely solely on foraged income while you wait for your first Harvest. Fishing Rod: The first Sunday, be sure to stop by Zack's house on the Beach and talk to him to receive a Fishing Rod. If you miss him, you can talk to him on any subsequent Sunday to obtain the rod. Fishing is a great source of supplemental income while waiting for crops to grow, as you can get a fair amount of fish in a short period of time to sell.

Important People to Befriend

You will want to start working on befriending the townsfolk and marriage candidates, but most importantly, you should focus on the special characters: Nature Sprites and Harvest Goddess, as well as Kappa early on. This is important for unlocking certain game content and getting the Nature Sprites to start helping with your chores.

Befriending the Nature Sprites Be sure to visit the Nature Sprites in their hut behind the Church every day to talk to them and give them gifts. They all like the colored Grass that you can find around the forest and beach, so these make easy gifts for them. They especially love grass that matches their own color (the colors you can forage vary by season). After a few days, some of the Sprites may like you enough to start helping with chores. For full details on what the Sprites like and how they can help, check out this page. Once you reach three notes with a Nature Sprite, they can start helping you with chores. Early on, their help with watering crops may be most beneficial as this will expand the number of crops you are able to plant at a time. In your first Spring, you can offer a gift to Plum in the 4th day, Blueberry in the 15th day and Aqua in the 26th. Remember to have it wrapped in the General Store

Offerings for the Harvest Goddess If you toss a gift into the pool near the Hot Springs, the Harvest Goddess will appear before you and accept your offering. It is important to start giving offerings daily as soon as possible, as it requires 30 offerings of liked/loved gifts to unlock the character Van, who will visit with his pet shop on the 15th of every month (along with opening an item shop at the inn every Wednesday). So if you want a pet as early as next Summer, it is important to start now.

Page 5 of 74 Easy gifts to find that the H. Goddess likes when you're starting out include Toy Herb (Spring foraged item), Pink Cat (Summer foraged item), and Eggs. Additionally, after 10 offerings the Harvest Goddess will also give you a Power Berry, which increases your max Stamina. To see all the things you can unlock by giving offerings to the Harvest Goddess and what she likes, check this page.

Kappa Loves Cucumbers Kappa isn't absolutely essential to befriend right away, but it is important to note that he loves cucumbers. Why is this important? Because this is the only offering he will accept. If you toss a cucumber into the lake on Mother Hill, he will appear and take the cucumber without a word. As cucumbers are a Spring crop, you will want to plant and stock up as many of them as possible if you are interested in befriending, and yes, marrying Kappa! Kappa will also give you a Power Berry after ten gifts of cucumbers, so if you at least want to get his Power Berry in your first year, set aside ten cucumbers for him. The Harvest Goddess and Kappa are Marriage Candidates One last thing that is important to bring up if you are going to be making frequent offerings to the Harvest Goddess. Both the Harvest Goddess and Kappa are marriage candidates! So, if you are interested in marrying either of them, it is critical that you are prepared for the H. Goddess's gift on your 20th offering of liked/loved gifts to her. The H. Goddess will offer to boost your friendship with any of the marriage candidates you have met so far. If you want to marry the H. Goddess or Kappa you must choose them as a requirement to marry them. You can only choose one so think carefully. If you are not sure at this point, it is better to sacrifice the small amount of friendship you will get with another candidate if you think you may want to get married to Kappa or the H. Goddess down the line. Decisions, decisions!

First Tool Upgrades & Expansions to Aim For

You've got all these tools and a world of possibilities for expanding your farm. What should you focus on first? Well, you should prepare according to your own priorities, but here are some recommendations: 

Prioritize upgrading the Axe first and foremost, so you can collect enough wood for your first home upgrade. Your starting axe can only chop branches and you will run out of these quickly, which will greatly slow the wood collecting process. All you need is a Copper Axe and you will be able to chop the stumps in the forest which respawn after only a couple days.

Upgrade to a Copper Hammer for the same reasons, but this is less of a priority than the Axe. You can collect enough stone without much trouble for the first house expansion, but it will make things easier for future expansions, including the Coop and Barn.

Upgrading the Watering Can will make daily watering go by quicker as well, but you should utilize the Sprites'

help as much as possible so you can allocate your resources elsewhere. Upgrading Tools Tools can be upgraded at the Forge. For your first tool upgrades, you will need one Copper Ore and 1000G for a single tool. Copper Ore can easily be mined on the first few floors of the Spring Mine so collect a small stock for your first tool upgrades whenever you have the spare time. Tools also need to be at a certain level to upgrade. Experience contributing to your tool's level is naturally gained through use. When a tool is ready to be upgraded you will know it because you'll hear a triumphant sound and a notification telling you it's time to upgrade. You can also check your tool's experience by viewing it at the Forge. You may run into the problem where you run out of wood to chop before you have enough experience to upgrade certain tools, such as the axe. This is slightly frustrating but the good news is that you don't actually have to chop wood to gain experience, just giving your axe some swings at nothing will do the trick. This is wasteful of stamina though but sometimes life is not always ideal! A Slightly Bigger House Upgrading your tools is all for the sake of getting a "Slightly Bigger House" which you can commission by talking to Gotts at the Workshop. Once you've collected enough materials and saved up enough funds, it is recommended to upgrade the house as soon as possible. If you are still short on materials and have enough funds, Gotts also sells materials which may speed up the building process. Keep in mind this first upgrade will take up three days and if it coincides with a Festival then that time will be extended by a day. The main benefit of a "Slightly Bigger House" is that it comes with a kitchen and space for a Fridge. Unfortunately, it does not come with the Fridge, but you can purchase one after the upgrade from Gotts for 2500G. It is important to upgrade the house as soon as possible if you want to have a chance at the first Cooking Festival in the Spring.

Page 6 of 74 Keep in mind that to cook you do need recipes and utensils in this game so even if you get the house upgraded in time you may still not be able to participate, so don't fret too much. Once you upgrade the house, cooking utensils will slowly become available for purchase at the General Store and you can learn recipes by watching the Entertainment channel on Tuesdays or from villagers randomly after giving them a gift. Upgrading the Bag You can purchase your first Bag Upgrade at the General Store for only 3000G. This makes inventory management much easier since you will gain additional space for both Tools and items. But if you are tight on funds you can still use the cabinet in your house (and the Fridge if you have it) to store items if you want to prioritize your spending elsewhere until you have funds to spare.

Your First Poultry/Livestock

Your farm is already equipped with a Coop and Barn so you can buy some animals as soon as you have the funds for it. For your first animal, a Chicken from PoPoultry is an easy choice for many reasons; they are cheap, produce eggs daily, and you can quickly get more chickens for free just buy putting their eggs in the incubation nest. Many villagers also like Eggs as a gift, including several Marriage Candidates, so you can use them to help build your relationships as well. Hot Spring Eggs You can give your Chicken's eggs a little boost in value before shipping them off by tossing them in the Hot Springs. This will boil the egg and you can ship it for a few extra gold at 80G. This is the same price as a normal quality egg though, and the Hot Spring Egg will always be the same value. So once your Chickens' eggs start going up in quality you should just ship them as is. Buying a Calf from Yodel Ranch next is also a good focus since it won't take long for her to grow up and start producing Milk daily. Sheep are good too, although they don't produce Wool every day, it is worth a lot when shipped. Gradually, you will want at least one of every animal kind for festivals and also for your Bookcase Trophy list if you are interested in earning trophies. Animal Care As you probably know, it's not enough just to buy the animal. You need food and tools to care for them as well. You can procure a Brush, Milker, and Clippers from the Forge, and food from each animal shop. Chickens and Rabbits don't require any food if you let them outside for a few hours daily, but you should keep a small stock for rainy days. Fodder can be harvested with a Sickle by cutting the grass in your field, so you obtain food freely for your livestock this way. However, once you start getting more livestock you may need a lot more grass to keep up with their feeding needs, so you can always buy Fodder at Yodel Ranch to supplement this.

Next Steps

With that, you should be off to a great start for your first season or two on the farm. What's most important though, is that you progress at the pace that is fun for you! While we will cover preparing for Summer in the next section, these tips can follow you on through Spring and the seasons beyond. If you want to share what you've accomplished or have your own advice for starting out on the farm, feel free to share in the SoS: Friends of Mineral Town forum, or in the comments below!

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (2020)

Winter Year 1 Your First Winter If you're wondering what to do during Winter in Friends of Mineral Town, wonder no more. There are a few things you can do only in Winter. Use the table of contents below to quickly jump to any section.

White Grass White Grass can be shipped or as an ingredient for Relax Tea Leaves which will help you regain Stamina and reduce Fatigue. White Grass can only be found during Winter, either in the wooded area south of Gotts's workshop or at the back of the Church (make friends with Carter to gain access). The Harvest Goddess will also occasionally give you a White Grass in any season, in return for giving her offerings!

Ellen and Christmas Socks Event If you've reached at least 4 music notes with Ellen, you have time until Winter 23 to give Ellen a Yarn Ball and she will knit some socks for the player which can be found hanging in the house. This triggers another event where Mayor Thomas will sneak into the player's house to leave a present on Winter 25. You must go to bed between 9:00 PM and 12:00 AM for this to happen.

The Lake Mine During Winter, the lake at Mother's Hill freezes over and you can access the special Lake Mine. Within the Lake Mine you can find many precious gems. There are also some special collectibles in there, such as the 9 Kappa Jewels, Cursed Tools, and the Underground Lake on Floor 9. Check our Mining guide for full details!

Winter Goals Focus on exploring the Lake Mine, upgrading your tools and facilities, and gathering materials so that you will be ready for a great second year!

Other Events Day 1 Nothing special here. Save before going to bed because Thomas will come at your house on day 2 and ask for an item. You can save and reload until he asks for something you have. Buy and wrap a Chocolate to gift to Jennifer on day 2 for her birthday.

Day 2 Jennifer's Birthday. Jennifer loves Chocolate which can be purchased on the General Store.

Day 6 Gray's Birthday. You can gift him some Copper (loved item).

Day 11 Dudley's birthday. He loves Honey, Eggs, Wild Grapes, Fish, and Wheat Flour.

Day 13 Ellen's Birthday. Ellen loves Milk, Honey, Wool, Apple, Wild Grapes, all items that easy to get. Befriending Ellen is also a requirement to unlock the Starlight Night Gift event the 25th. You must be a friend of Ellen's and give her a ball of Yarn, which also requires upgrading the Barn and purchasing a Yarn Maker from the Forge.

Day 14 Day 14 is Valentine's Day. The female characters will gift chocolate to the player if they have a purple heart. Read our Winter Festivals guide to learn more.

Day 15 Duke's Birthday. You can gift him a Hot Spring Egg (loved item). To get Hot Spring Eggs, you must throw any egg to the Hot Spring.

Day 19 Huang's Birthday. You can gift him some Gold from the Spring Mine.

Day 20 Marie's Birthday. Marie Wild Grapes, Black Grass (found in the mines), Red Grass, Blue Grass, and White Grass. All easily found items.

Day 24 Starlight Night Festival. The day before the event, Thomas will come to the player's house and ask you to choose a marriage candidate with whom to spend the night. The eligible candidates will send a letter to the player with a location (the time will always be 6:00 PM). The day of the event, the player gains a relationship boost with the candidate and the others involved and may receive a ring.

Day 25 Starlight Night Gift event. This will only happen if you obtained the socks from Ellen.

Day 26 Mei's birthday. Mei loves Apples.

Day 29 Jeff's Birthday. Honey and Blue Grass are two easy gifts you can give to Jeff.

Day 30 New Year's event. You can read more about it in our Winter Festivals guide.

Year 2 Onwards  Edit With your first year of farming under your belt, how you want to spend your time and what you want to aim for is up to you! One important thing to note is that from now, every year Gotts will be able to upgrade your field quality one level, up to level five. This will allow your field to yield higher quality crops. You may have already noticed during the first year that sometimes you will harvest a 2 star crop. For Year 2, upgrading your field to level 2 will cost 20,000G and take Gotts 3 days to complete. For more information, see our Best Crops Per Season guide.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town's Best Crops per Season Welcome to our Crops Guide! This guide lists the most profitable crops per season and tells you how to unlock the hidden seeds! Bonus tip at the end on how to increase Crop Star Quality!

Spring Strawberries are the most profitable crop since it will produce more crops than Cabbage. However, to unlock Strawberries you must ship 100 Turnips, Potatoes and Cucumbers. Cabbage is a close second, but a bit expensive for the first year. During your first Spring, you should focus on Turnips to make money fast and get you started. Crop

Crop Star Quality Guide You might've noticed that crops have a star rating and sometimes you get 2-star crops. To increase the crops star rating even further, you have to upgrade your Field Soil to level 2. During the first day of the second year, you will receive a letter from Gotts informing you that you can upgrade your field soil and the next upgrade is available during the third year. The field can be upgraded to Level 2, 3, 4 and 5, costing 20,000G, 50,000G, 100,000G, and 300,000G respectively. All upgrades take 3 days to complete. The effects of the field apply at the time the crops are fully grown, so if you upgraded the field with crops on it, the effects might still apply. Each upgrade will increase the chances of getting a higher star crop by a specific amount, but higher upgrades will unlock the next star level. The Level 2 field will increase the chances of getting a 2-star crop whilst unlocking the 3star crop.

Cooking Recipes Guide Welcome to our Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town Cooking Recipes Guide. There are a few ways to obtain recipes, but before you can get started, you need to purchase the first house upgrade, the Slightly Bigger House from Gotts at the Workshop. Once you do, you'll have to stay tuned for mail from Jeff at the General Store telling you there's a new Utensil available. Your first year in the farm might not be too cooking involved, but once you've stocked up on ingredients and utensils, you'll be able to start cooking for stamina and more importantly, for gifting. Many characters have cooked meals as their favourite items.

How to Learn Recipes Unfortunately, you can't experiment and learn recipes by just using the right ingredients like in the original FoMT game, to cook a meal, you have to have learned the recipe. Recipes can be learned from: 

Tasty Time TV Show - The easiest way to learn a recipe is by watching the Tasty Time tv show that airs on Tuesdays. Simply interact with the TV and select the Entertainment channel on Tuesdays to learn a new recipe every time.

Making Friends - Boost your relationship with non-marriage candidates to 4 musical notes. Anna has a special condition and when you reach 10 musical notes with her she'll teach you 5 recipes over 5 weeks every Saturday.

Cooking - That's right, cooking meals will sometimes award you with a new recipe. Requirements might be that you use certain ingredients a number of times.

Increasing Stamina with Power Berries Learn how to get more energy and stamina with Power Berries in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. Stamina can be easily depleted early in the game. Using your tools will decrease your Stamina. You can tell how much Stamina you have left by the number of berries on the top-left side of the screen and the number above it. Luckily, there's a way to increase stamina by finding all 10 Power Berries in the game. Consuming a Power Berry will increase your Stamina by 15. The initial value is 150. Without further ado, here are the locations of the 10 Power Berries: Contents 

Till the soil with the Hoe on your farm field

To do this simply equip the Hoe tool and press the action button on the soil in your farm. You'll receive this Berry randomly. I recommend trying to get this one naturally while tilling the soil to plant crops unless you've obtained all other berries or you have time to spare.

Increase your relationship with the Harvest Goddess to 4 ♪

The Harvest Goddess can be found by throwing items on the river just above the Hot Spring and to the right of the Spring Mine. An item that she loves is Moondrop Flower which can be foraged in Mother's Hill.

Page 25 of 74 Exchange for 900 medals in the Spring Derby

This is done by betting on races during the Spring Derby. Read our Spring Festivals guide to learn more.

Win first prize in the Spring Derby

You must enter your horse to the race in the Spring Derby, not doable during the first year. Read our Spring Festivals guide to learn more.

Win the Fetch Fest in Summer 1

Similar to the Spring Derby, this is a contest that you must enter with one of your animals and it's not doable in Year 1. Read our Spring Festivals guide to learn more.

Reach the 19th floor in Lake Mine (Winter)

Read our Mining Guide for tips on reaching the bottom floors. The Lake Mine can only be accessed during the Winter and can be found right next to Jennifer's Tent.

Reach the 100th floor in Spring Mine

Read our Mining Guide for tips on reaching the bottom floors. This can be an arduous task, so it is recommended to be attempted later in the game. You'll need to make use of Bodigizers and other stamina recovering items. Once you can purchase or make at least 10 of those, you can attempt to reach the 100th floor.

Behind Lake Mine (Winter)

Go to the Lake Mine's entrance during Winter and press the confirm button on the back.

Fishing in the beach during Winter (Needs Mythic Fishing Rod)

Once you've obtained a Mythic Fishing Rod, all you have to do is fish in the beach during Winter.

Purchase from the General Store after purchasing the Large Bed

The Large Bed is available after getting the last house upgrade.

Mysterious Power Berry

Give Kappa Cucumbers for 10 days. This item is a 'Mysterious Power Berry' and reduces fatigue as opposed to increasing stamina, but it's also worth picking up for those wanting to maximise the amount of work you can do. Cucumbers are a Spring crop. Accumulate 10 of them, and give Kappa one every day. On the 10th day, you'll be given a Mysterious Power Berry. For the store power berry, you need to have purchased the Rug as well. I had the large bed, big fridge, deluxe cabinet, but the power berry did not show up until I bought the rug.

The 7 Rings  Edit In SoS: Friends of Mineral Town, there are seven rings you can acquire through completing various tasks. They are mainly for collection purposes, but if you want them all, this guide covers how to get them! Rings you have collected will be displayed in the system menu under the "Farm Information" tab, under your collected Power Berries.

Ring #

How to Obtain

Ring 1

If you give Cookies to a female marriage candidate on White Day, in return you will get a Ring on Valentine's Day. Conversely, you can get this same ring by giving a male candidate Chocolate on Valentine's Day; you will then receive this ring on White Day.

Ring 2

Spend the Starlight Night festival with a candidate. If you attend with Jennifer or a male candidate (excluding Brandon) they will tell you that you received the ring. Otherwise, the ring will automatically just show up on your profile with no notification.

Page 27 of 74 Ring 3

The ring automatically is added to your profile after Getting Married

Ring 4

After getting married, you will receive a ring from your spouse the first time you celebrate a birthday with them. You can trigger the birthday event by walking into your house after 6 PM. See our How to Get Married guide for full details.

Ring 5

Your spouse will give you another ring after being married for 10 years.

Ring 6

Complete all 35 trophies on the Trophy List on your bookshelf. Trophies carry over through save files.

Ring 7

Carry the pedometer with you at all times for this one! After you log 10,000,000 steps, the Harvest Goddess will give you this one.

Truth Jewels  Edit

The Truth Jewels are 8 hidden items that, when merged, form the Truth Gem. The Truth Gem accurately depicts your character's Stamina and Fatigue levels. Using this guide, you'll be able to locate each of the Jewels, though it's somewhat of a long and arduous task

#1 - Stable Jewel The first of the jewels is pretty easy to locate. You just have to interact with the horses trough (water container) inside of the stable, and you'll pick it up.

#2 - Library Jewel This jewel is placed in the bookcase immediately left of the Library's staircase, on it's second floor. Interact with it, and you'll pick it up.

#3 - Church Statue Jewel You might notice there's a statue of the Goddess in the Church's small garden. Interact with it, and you'll obtain another jewel.

#4 - Lamppost Jewel The next jewel is very close to the last one. Just interact with the lamppost immediately south of the Church.

#5 - Purchaseable Jewel Huang's Store sells another one of the jewels, for 50.000 G.

#6 - Prize Jewel

Page 28 of 74 The Spring and Autumn horse derbies offer a Truth Jewel as a prize, costing 1000 Tickets. You'll need to bet big and win to achieve that, so follow the previous links for hints on how to bet in the derbies.

#7 - New Years' Jewel Now things start getting more complicated. To obtain this jewel, you'll need to commission the Town Villa from the Workshop, tune the TV onto the Harvest Goddess' New Year's Quiz Show, and win. This is extremely expensive as the Villa costs 100.000.000 G with the added requirement of 999 Stone and Lumber too.

#8 - Mountain Cottage Jewel This one will take you fifty years of marriage. Once you've been married for fifty years, your husband/spouse will gift you a Cottage in the Mountain. To obtain the eight jewel, you'll need to interact with this cottage's calendar.

Trophy List  Edit There are 35 Trophies (or in-game achievements) to accomplish in SoS: FoMT! The Trophy List is found on your bookshelf and it also contains handy instructions for how to complete each one. But just in case, we have provided a list here, along with some tips for how to accomplish the tricky ones!

Makers  Edit Makers are used to process your farm animals' produce into products like Mayonnaise and Cheese. Unlocking them is simple; upgrade your Barn and Coop and the makers for each will become available for commission at Saibara's Forge. Each Maker will cost 1x Adamantite and 20,000G and will take Saibara 5x days to add to your Barn or Coop. Once he is finished the maker will automatically become available; there is no need to talk to Saibara to complete the commission. 

Note that you can also cook Mayonnaise, Butter, and Cheese in your kitchen as long as you have the recipe

and appropriate utensil. If you want a stocking to hang up in your house for Winter, be sure to unlock the Yarn Maker as soon as possible. If you give Ellen a Yarn Ball between Winter 1-23 from 9 AM - 11 AM, and Ellen has 4 notes, she will knit a stocking for you!

Spring Mine The Spring Mine can be accessed at any point in the game, unlike the Lake Mine, which can only be accessed during the Winter (until you obtain the Teleport Stone).

Strategy The easiest way to get to the bottom of the mine is to save before you start tilling the ground with your Hoe and take note of where the ladder is, then reload and go straight to that tile, since the location of the ladder is decided the moment you enter the floor. If you don't want to do the above method, you best bring Body Energizers and any other items and food you can bring in order to restore stamina.

Lake Mine The Lake Mine can only be accessed during winter when the lake is frozen. There are many interesting features in the Lake Mine. One being Alexandrite, a gem that you can ship or sell for 10,000G. On floors 50, 100, 150 and 200, Alexandrite is the only thing you can find, but even then, it is extremely rare. On floor 9 of the mine, you can find a backdoor that leads to a fishing pond, where you can catch the Coelacanth, one of the 7 Guardian Fish. Cursed Tools are another feature of the Lake Mine. These tools are more powerful than regular tools but have their own quirks. The 9 Kappa Jewels can also be found on the Lake Mine (read the bottom for more details)

Cursed Tools Cursed Tools can appear in the mines when tilling the soil with a hoe, but first, all your tools must be at Mithril level. However, Cursed Tools aren't guaranteed to spawn, so it's always a good idea to save on the previous floor and reload if the cursed tool didn't spawn. Additionally, Cursed Tools are well... cursed. Once equipped, they cannot be unequipped until "blessed" by Carter or by fulfilling their requirements. Once the requirements have been met, the tools can be used regularly. The table below shows you the floors where you can find the Cursed Tools and their blessing requirements.

Floor

Floor 49

Floor 59

Cursed Hammer

Floor 69

Cursed Watering Can

Blessed by Carter 5 times

Floor 79

Cursed Sickle

Equipped for 5 days

Some Tips The tools required to be used 50 times don't have to be correctly used, you can swing at nothing before bed every day and it'll count towards the blessing requirements. The 5 times blessings can be done in a single day and unfortunately, there's no work around on waiting those 5 days for the hammer and sickle. As we said before, Cursed Tools aren't guaranteed to spawn, so it's always best to save on the previous floor and reload if the cursed tool didn't spawn.

Kappa Jewels There are 9 Kappa Jewels in total, once collected, you will receive the Kappa Gem, which can be used to decrease fatigue. The Kappa Jewels can be found on floors: 0, 40, 60, 80, 120, 140, 160, 180 and 255.

How to Get Married in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town Welcome to our Marriage Guide for Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. To get married, you'll first need to raise your relationship with the bachelor/bachelorette until they appear with a Red Heart when you speak to them. To do so, you must trigger all the Heart Events with them. Triggering a Heart Event will have different requirements depending on the villager, but a good rule of thumb is that you must trigger the black event that doesn't require much, and then raising your relationship with them until the heart changes colour.

Page 34 of 74 For example, after you've raised your relationship with a villager, the heart will go from black to purple. This means that candidate's affection level is ready to trigger the event. All you have to do next is trigger the exact conditions required. You can see the conditions for all events by checking out our individual character pages from the table of content!

Upgrading Your House The next step is to upgrade your house. The first upgrade is called the Slightly Bigger House. Which requires you have to collect 150 Lumber and 50 Material Stone. To do so, simply chop down tree stumps and rocks and boulders with your Axe and Hammer. The upgrade will also cost you 3000G. The next upgrade and the one you need to get married is called the Big House. This one is a bit more costly, requiring 600 Lumber and 250 Material Stone, plus 10,000G. The next step is to buy the Large Bed from the General Store.

Unlocking and Gifting the Preserved Flower The Preserved Flower is an item needed to propose to a villager. To obtain the Preserved Flower, you must trigger a candidate's Blue Heart Event. After that, one day when you exit your house from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on a sunny day that is not Tuesday or Sunday, an event with Jeff will trigger, and he'll give you a Preserved Flower and you'll be able to buy more from the General Store. Once you have your first Preserved Flower, give it to your sweetheart to start dating them. In order for them to accept your gift, you need to have at least a Green Heart with them and have seen their first four heart events, which can be found on each individual candidates' page on this guide. Giving a marriage candidate the Preserved Flower will unlock the rest of their Heart Events. You can give a Preserved Flower to all regular candidates, both male and female to date them and view their events before settling down with just one of them!

The Blue Feather After witnessing the orange heart event for at least one character (or you have reached an orange heart with one of the secret marriage candidates, ie, the Harvest Goddess), the Blue Feather will become available for purchase in the General Store for 1000G. Unlike the Preserved Flower, there is only one Blue Feather and you can only marry one eligible bachelor/bachelorette. Choose carefully as marriage in this game is for life (at least until you start a new save file)!

The Proposal & Wedding For a marriage candidate to accept your proposal, they must have a red heart and you must have witnessed all of their heart events. With Blue Feather in hand, present it to your sweetheart of choice. If you have fulfilled all the requirements, they will accept and you will officially be engaged to be married! Keep in mind the wedding will take place 7 days after you propose, so plan accordingly. The wedding can occur on a character's birthday but if the 7th day falls on a festival day the wedding day will take place the day after the festival. Seven days after you propose, your wedding will take place! This is an all day event. After the wedding you will receive one of the The 7 Rings and the end game credits will roll. After that you will be officially married!

Married Life Some things will be different once you get married. Certain festivals such as Valentine's Day and Fall Moon Viewing will take part with your spouse.

Page 35 of 74 Birthdays You can celebrate yours and your spouse's birthday by walking into your farmhouse in the evening after 6 PM. Your spouse will ask if you know the importance of the day. Answer correctly to earn 3000 FP and have the celebration. If you answer incorrectly you will lose 2000 FP. The first time you celebrate your spouse's birthday, you will receive another of the The 7 Rings. Anniversaries Your anniversary cutscene will trigger automatically when you wake up in the morning. Again your spouse will ask you the importance of the day, with +3000 FP for answering correctly and -2000 FP for "forgetting". You'll receive a gift from your spouse in the form of a precious gem. If you happen to make it through 50 years of marriage, you'll receive a fantastic Mountain Cottage as a gift. Here you can also find one of the Truth Jewels behind the calendar in the Mountain Cottage. Kids Some time after your marriage you will have a baby on the way! The timeframes differ slightly depending on if you are a same sex couple or not. For full details, see our Having Kids page.

Marrying the Secret Marriage Candidates There are four secret marriage candidates and their marriage requirements differ slightly and/or have additional requirements in order to marry them. To see how to marry these special characters, visit their individual characters pages 

Having Kids  Edit After you get married, eventually you will have a kid! You don't have a choice in this, so get ready for your little bundle of joy. This guide covers the timeline of events as well as caring for the new addition to your family.

Timeline

Opposite Gender Couples 

30 days after your wedding the female spouse will find out she is pregnant (if the 30th day falls on a festival, you'll find out the day after because pregnancy works that way ;P).

The next morning (or morning after if it is a festival day), the Harvest Goddess will appear and ask what gender you hope the child will be. If you choose a specific gender, your child is guaranteed that gender. If you want it to be a surprise, choose the third option to leave it up to nature.

 60 days after the initial discovery of pregnancy, the baby will be born! This event will take up the whole day. Same-Sex Couples 

90 days after your wedding ceremony, if your partner is at max affection, the Harvest Goddess will ask you to raise a child for her. At this point you will also be able to choose the baby's gender (if you wish) and by magic a baby will appear!

Child Growth & Events

Your child will have several growth stages, "Newborn", "Crawling", and the final "Walking" stage, where they will remain as a kid/toddler. When they are a newborn baby, they remain in bed (or in your spouse's arms) and you cannot interact with them. But once they reach the crawling and walking stages, you can talk to them and give them gifts like any other villager. At their different growth stages, they have different preferences, so refer to the chart below to see what they like. There are also a couple events which trigger their growth to the next stage, also covered below.

2.3 Evening

Early Game Morning From your house, check the calendar and see if there are any birthdays today. If there are, check out our character guides to know their favourite gifts. Later on in the day, you can get the gift wrapped in the General Store. Take care of any animals you might have and ship their produce if you can spare any eggs or milk to use as gifts, bring them with you and run to the forest, mother's hill and around to forage any grass and other items you can find, such as Bamboo Shots, flowers, etc. While you're in the forest you can chop down tree stumps and rocks to level up your Axe/Hammer and collect materials for future house and farm upgrades. Make sure to pick up or bring a Moondrop Flower with you and throw it in the river as an offering to the Harvest Goddess (this unlocks new villagers eventually).

Noon Around noon is a good time to head to Mineral Town, talk to people and offer them gifts, but early game, it is essential that you go to the Nature Sprites' Hut and give them the grass you picked up in the mornings. They like grass that is of the same colour as they are (check out our Nature Sprites guide to know more). Other important characters to befriend include: Jeff, Duke, Anna, Ellen, Carter and Huang (but Huang can be difficult to befriend at first). Befriending Jeff means you can enter the General Store earlier than usual. You need to befriend Duke and Anna to ensure Cliff can stay in Mineral Town and Carter because it'll allow you to collect mushrooms. Once you're good enough friends with Carter, you'll be able to access the Church's backroom where you can gather mushrooms. Last, but not least, befriending Huang will allow you to sell him items for instant money. Make sure you talk to everybody. If you keep this up, you'll eventually trigger every heart and friendship event.

Evening You can use the rest of the day to level up your tools. At first, you'll want to make some extra money so levelling up your Fishing Rod is essential and handy. Spend your evenings fishing and when you're done, put the fish in the shipping bin and save some if you want to use them as gifts, then go to sleep.

After Befriending the Nature Sprites This can be after befriending just 2/3 of them or all. At first, you can get by with just a few of them dedicated to watering your crops (this is the most tedious and stamina/time-consuming task of the bunch).

Morning Essentially the same as early game mornings, but you can put less of an effort on finding grass (It's still recommended to find Blue and Green Grass to ship and unlock better medicine in the clinic).

Noon Keep bringing gifts to villagers and any remaining nature sprites and don't forget to send your tools to the Forge to upgrade them as needed.

Evening As before, keep levelling up your tools, but at this point, you can start going into the mines to gather the ores you need to upgrade them. Check out our guides/Mining|Mining Guide for more information

Story of Seasons: FoMT - Fishing Guide To get started with fishing, you can obtain the Fishing Rod the first in-game Sunday by visiting Zack's house on the beach. With the Fishing Rod, you can press the tool button to use it and when a fish bites, you'll see an exclamation mark above the character and hear an auditive cue. If you want to know where to find all the different fish species, then this is the guide for you. The list below will show you everything you need to know to catch all the fish available. Some of them will require you to upgrade your Fishing Rod. The 'Charge' field indicates the level of Charge you need to have with your Fishing Rod. To upgrade tools you must use them before they can rise to the next level and then use ores dug from the mines and take them to the Forge for an upgrade.

Page 40 of 74 Caught fish can be sold in your Shipping Box and the price depends on their size, Small are the cheapest ones whilst Large fish are the most expensive ones. We have this detailed in our table. Some of them can be found at different sizes. Additionally, there's a special type of fish called Guardian Fish. These have additional requirements and are listed below the normal fish list. 

Van's Favorite

Page 49 of 74 Van's Favorite is an item you obtain on the mail and, if you've got over 1,000,000G, you can exchange them for a Remote Control. Apart from that, it's a really valuable item as you can sell it to Huang for considerable amounts of money (only if you've got a good enough FP with him. He'll tell you when that happens. And even more, the more friends you're with him, the more he'll pay). As such, you should be aware of the way the game calculates when to give you Van's Favorite. There's a hidden purchase counter in the game, and once it reaches a multiple of 10 and you go to sleep, you'll get one in the mail. This counter increases with the following cases: 

Opening any Store menu. Not buying 10 items, but opening, buying one item, closing then repeating it tenfold'.

Upgrading your tools at the Forge.

Upgrading your house at the Workshop.

 Selling your animals. You can keep track of this specific multiplier knowing that each time you receive Van's Favorite via mail, you're at the multiplier, so you'll just need to increase the counter ten times then move onto the next day. This way, you'll be able to get daily Van's Favorite's, and rack up your money very fast.

Best Crops per Season Welcome to our Crops Guide!

Preparing For Summer As Spring draws to a close, it's time to start getting ready for the Summer. Note that Summer 1 this year falls on a festival day, so the General Store will be closed. The General Store won't stock Summer seeds until Summer, so you'll have to wait a day to get seeds to plant there. However, what you can do is get some Pineapple seeds from Huang's shop towards the end of Spring so you'll have them to plant right away.

Pineapple Farming These seeds cost 1000G but if you have the funds they are well worth it - one Pineapple sells for 500G at its base price, and if you plant early you will get two growth cycles of Pineapples, so you will turn a tidy profit by the end of Summer. If you want to make the most profit out of Pineapples, don't purchase and plant after Summer 5 to ensure you get two growth cycles.

Trees You should also visit Gotts at the Workshop and add an Apple Tree or two to your farm. You don't necessarily have to do this before Spring ends, because trees are available instantly upon purchase. Apples will be available in the Summer and Fall so feel free to purchase an Apple Tree whenever you can.

Meeting Kai

Head to Mineral Town on the last day of Spring to trigger a cutscene where you will meet Kai. Kai runs the Beach Cafe during Summer, but more importantly, he is a marriage candidate! Kai only shows up for the Summer, so you may want to pay special attention to him if you are interested in dating him.

Summer Projects

If you haven't already, continue working towards your first home upgrade. If you've already completed the first expansion, upgrading the Coop could be a good goal for you to strive for, since the starting Coop is quite small. Add

Page 56 of 74 animals to your farm family as you can afford them. If you don't want an upgraded Coop, begin stockpiling materials for your next house upgrade. Continue to work on upgrading your tools. When you get to the point to where you can start upgrading tools to Silver grade, the Axe and Hammer are always a good start since they will aid you in material collection. You will start to reach the point where you will need at least a Silver Hammer to clear boulders in the forest since you will run out of Lv. 2 rocks in your field. Silver Ore can be mined starting on B3F of the Spring Mine. Van's Shop If you succeeded at giving the Harvest Goddess 30 liked/loved gifts as offerings, Van will introduce himself to you the following Wednesday as you exit your house. Van will open shop every Wednesday on the second floor of the Inn, where you can purchase some Ores from him if you don't feel like mining them. Additionally, he will open a Pet Shop on the 15th of every month, except if it coincides with holidays. For full details about what Van sells, check out Van's Shop page. Cliff Needs a Purpose If you haven't already, start befriending Cliff. This isn't relevant until Fall, but you don't want to neglect him, so it's good to start early. You may find this important even if you aren't interested in marrying him. An easy gift that Cliff likes is Wild Grapes. Luckily, you do not have to raise his affection level too high for this. Refer to the spoiler below for details, or Cliff's character/event page. Spoiler: Cliff Fall, Year 1 Spoilers

Preparing For Fall Like for Summer, you can purchase some seeds from Huang's shop near the end of Summer so you'll have some on hand for the Fall. In this case, you'll want to buy Green Pepper seeds which grow in Fall and have multiple yields. This season, the General Store should also be open on Fall 1 so you can buy all the seeds you need. Again, you may want to also purchase a Fall tree from Gotts if you haven't already. You may already have an Apple Tree from Summer, but Oranges are in season for the Fall too!

The Fluffy Festival: Autumn 21st

You can find notes for all festivals in the game under our "Festivals" section, but you may want to take extra note of the Fluffy Festival which is held on Autumn 21st. A day prior to the festival start, Autumn 20th, Mugi will come to ask if you want to enter an animal. It is important to note that only sheeps, alpacas, or rabbits who have their wool/fur grown out in order to participate. So be sure not to shear your animals a few days before this date so you can ensure that you will be able to enter them!

The Sunsweet Flower & Preserved Flower Starting in Fall (or after witnessing a marriage candidate's Blue Heart Event), you'll trigger a chain of events to unlock a special flower known as the Sunsweet Flower. To begin this storyline, exit your farmhouse on a sunny day between 9 AM - 5 PM (not Sunday or Tuesday). Jeff the General Store manager will be waiting for you outside and ask you to come to the General Store. There, he and Basil will confide in you about a flower special enough to be given to a special someone. Luckily for you, the Nature Sprites overhear and are also interested in the flower. You accompany them to the Secret Forest for the 24th Great Nature Sprite Experimentation Bonanza. There they will magically make two flowers bloom. That was easy! They ask you to give one to Jeff and Basil. You’ll return to the shop and give each guy a flower. And then pick out a name for the flower - the Sunsweet Flower! Basil will take the flower for analysis. Next time you go to the secret forest, Cherry will be there to tell you the flower will bloom here all by itself now. You'll now be able to forage this flower! Three days later, exit your farmhouse during the same time range (9 AM - 5 PM) to meet Jeff again. This time he will give you a special item - the Preserved Flower. You can now also purchase additional Preserved Flowers at the

Page 57 of 74 General Store for 1000 G. The next time you exit your house between 9 AM - 5 PM (during the Fall season) you'll run into Basil, who will give you some Sunsweet Flowers (also now available for purchase at the General Store during Fall). The Preserved Flower must be given to your special someone in order to see their remaining heart events and eventually marry them. Once you have seen a candidate's first four Heart Events and they have a Green Heart or higher, you can give them this flower to confess your feelings to them. You can in fact, buy more Preserved Flowers from the General Store and give them to all the regular marriage candidates. You will want to do this if you want to witness all their events and unlock the Trophy "I choose you!" The special candidates (Huang, Harvest Goddess, Kappa, & Bon Vivant) do not require the exchange of the Preserved Flower.

Finding Cliff a Job You may have noticed during the earlier two seasons that Cliff still doesn't feel like he quite belongs in Mineral Town and is not sure if he will stay. Well, now is your time to help him out! On Fall 14, when you exit your farmhouse in the morning, Duke will show up and ask for your help with the Autumn Winery Harvest tomorrow. If you accept, you will gain +10 friendship with Duke and he will also ask you to bring another helper - perhaps that fellow at the church? (If you decline, you will lose -10 friendship points with Duke). Whether you accept or decline to help, talk to Cliff on the 14th to ask for his help on the job. 

If you agreed to help, go to the winery between 10 AM - 3 PM on Fall 15. You and Cliff will help with the harvest. You'll be paid 1000 G for your help and Cliff will be offered the job!

If you declined to help but still talked to Cliff, Cliff will help out with the harvest and then be working at the Winery henceforth. If you didn't tell Cliff about the job, he will leave at the end of the year. You can witness his leaving cutscene on Winter 29th by going to the beach between 6 AM - 12 PM. Fret not though, he won't be gone for too long. On Spring 29 of Year 2 or later you will run into him by taking the north exit of your farm towards Adge Winery between 6 PM 10 PM. After this, Cliff will fulfill his destiny of working at the winery.

Fall Projects Crops can't be grown during the Winter season, so your Fall aims should have that in mind as you will need some way to have income during Winter. If you haven't already, focus on acquiring poultry and livestock. Chickens and Cows produce daily so they are a good reliable source of income. If you can, upgrade the Coop and/or Barn. Upgrading the Barn and unlocking the Yarn Maker is important if you want to be able to make Yarn Balls; if you are friends with Ellen and give her a Yarn Ball in Winter, she will make you a stocking to hang in your home. Naturally, you will need a sheep or alpaca to produce the wool needed for the Yarn Maker! Focus also on upgrading your Hammer and Hoe, since mining is a major activity you can do in Winter. Upgrading the Fishing Rod is also a good focus for further Winter income. Building up your kitchen (which comes with the first house upgrade) is also a good idea since you can make dishes to help you with long mining runs. Remember, kitchen utensils can be purchased at the General Store, and recipes can be acquired by watching the Entertainment Channel every Tuesday and after reaching 4 Musical Notes or more with villagers. Do all these things and you should be well prepared for the cold months!

Mushrooms & Truffles Truffles and mushrooms spawn in the Fall and they're a required ingredient for many recipes, and Truffles are the best items to use during the Harvest Festival. Mushrooms and Poison Mushrooms can be found on Mother's Hill and Secret Forest. To find Truffles, you'll need a hammer at level 3. Head to the path blocked by two boulders south of Lake Mine and smash them with your hammer. They can also be found behind the church, but you'll need 4 music notes with Carter to access it. New Year's Eve Date

Winter 30

You can spend the last day of the year in one of 3 ways. You can head to Rose Plaza between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM to celebrate the New Year's Soba feast with Duke, Carter, Manna, Ran, Sasha and Thomas. After the event, you will receive 9 Buckwheat Flour. The second way of spending New Year's Eve is by going to Mother's Hill Summit between 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM to spend the night with Anna, Basil, Cliff, Dudley, Gray, Marie and Saibara. The last event is random and is triggered by not attending any of the previous two and going to sleep, which might trigger some dreams.

Spring Festivals  Edit Welcome to our Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town Spring Festivals guide. There are four festivals for the Spring season, though one could may be as well counted as an event. Please check our table of contents below if you're searching for a specific Spring Festival: Contents 

4 Cooking Festival o

4.1 Befriending the Gourmet

Mochi Bonanza Date: Spring 1 Location: Rose Plaza Hours: 6 PM - 12 AM (of Spring 2) The Mochi Bonanza is a festival held to celebrate the coming of a new year. As it's held the same day you arrive to Mineral Town, it isn't made available until Year 2. There isn't much to do on this festival, but talking to every villager attending the event will help you gain Friendship Points with each of them, so be sure to take advantage of this. The event is activated by talking to the mayor, and consists of a Mochi eating fest. Be sure to attend with empty spaces on your Inventory, as the Mayor will gift you lots of Mochi if you do.

White Day Date: Spring 14 Location: N/A Hours: All day White Day reflects an Asian festivity that can be understood as Valentine's Day, but for females. On White Day, you'll be able to go to any Bachelorettes to gift them Cookies, to deepen your relationship with them. And if you're a female, you'll be able to receive Cookies in your mailbox from Bachelors that you've achieved a certain relationship level with. What's more, you can even regift your Cookies to other females without any consequence.

Spring Derby Date: Spring 18 Location: Rose Plaza Hours: 10 AM - 6 PM The Spring Derby is a horse racing event. As with the last event, other villagers will attend, and you'll be able to gain Friendship Points with them just by talking to them. You can enter your own horse into the competition and bet on up to three horse races. Entering a horse into the competition will not be possible on Year 1, as the Foal Mugi gave you is yet to grow up, but you can bet and win at the races.

Entering your Horse on the race If your Horse is already an adult, you'll be able to sign it up, taking part on the third race. This race is different as you'll be the Horse's jockey, and so, will have control over the race. You can still bet on this race, too. The higher your Heart Level with your Horse, the better it will perform. Controls are basic. Press   to boost your Horse, but be wary of the stamina icon that appears above your horse! If it becomes red, it'll become exhausted and lose momentum. Time your boosts correctly and you'll be able to beat your opponents and win the third race. This comes with the following advantages: 

You'll gain even more Friendship Points with the attending villagers.

You'll be given a Power Berry.

Betting To bet at the races, talk to the Mayor, who's sitting behind a table, and ask him to purchase tickets. You'll be presented with a panel with the following information: the horse's name, the betting odds for it to win the race shown as a multiplier of your tickets were the horse to win, and finally, a slot in which you'll be able to bet Tickets. Mind that each Ticket costs 100G and is equal to a Medal.

Page 61 of 74 As you could imagine, the horse that has the lowest multiplier is the most likely to win. But this isn't guaranteed, so there ain't much of a strategy guide to go around that. Just remember that there are three races, before splurging all of your money on a single race. Tickets can be exchanged for the following prices:

Compare it with the Face Pack, which is more than two times more expensive in Medals, yet just 200G more.

Cooking Festival Date: Spring 22 Location: Rose Plaza Hours: 10 AM - 6 PM To take part of the Cooking Festival you need to have a Kitchen, that is, have purchased the Slightly Bigger House upgrade at the Workshop; plus some utensils might be required, purchaseable at the General Store. In the first part of the Cooking Festival, you should go the Plaza and talk with every villager to gain extra FP. Then, talk to the Gourmet, the festival host who's sitting behind a table. You'll be assigned the category he'll be judging, which changes every year. The first five years, these categories are set. Once you've done so, walk out to the Plaza to find yourself inside of your Kitchen. You'll need to cook a dish that falls into the competing category; mind that the better Stamina recovery level of said dish, the higher the chances to win the contest.

Befriending the Gourmet The Gourmet is a special character which is only interactable the two hours after the Festival has ended (from 6 to 8 PM). He can be married, but as he's such a rare character, you'll need to prepare his gift well. He likes all food, and loves the Elli Leaves recipe.

Truth Jewels The Truth Jewels are 8 hidden items that, when merged, form the Truth Gem.

#6 - Prize Jewel The Spring and Autumn horse derbies offer a Truth Jewel as a prize, costing 1000 Tickets.
