Jack Scully (diperankan oleh Sam Worthtington) adalah seorang mantan marinir yang pulang dalam keadaan cacat, yaitu lumpuh. Dia diajak untuk mengikuti program Avatar yang dikembangkan Amerika di Pandora. Tugasnya adalah menggerakkan sesosok mahluk tinggi berwarna biru dengan kekuatan otaknya. Mahluk tinggi dan biru ini adalah mahluk penghuni asli planet itu, Na'vi. Jack bersama dengan ilmuwan yang memimpin di tempat penelitian itu, Dr. Grace (diperankan oleh Sigourney Weaver), bertugas untuk menjalin hubungan baik dengan penduduk setempat, yaitu: orang-orang Na’vi dari klan Omaticaya. Mereka diharapkan bisa mencari tahu lebih banyak tentang kebiasaan dan kebudayaan klan ini untuk tujuan tertentu. Karena mereka menemukan adanya logam langka yang bernilai tinggi tertanam tepat dimana suku mereka tinggal, bernama unobtanium. Manusia ingin mengambil logam itu sebanyakbanyaknya dan menjualnya di bumi. Tapi, untuk bisa seperti itu, mereka harus terlebih dahulu mengusir klan Omaticaya dari sana. Dan tugas itu tidak mudah. Karena di tempat itu terdapat sebuah pohon raksasa yang dinamakan Pohon Suara dan sangat dipuja oleh suku itu. Mereka tidak akan mau meninggalkan tempat itu karena tidak ingin berada jauh dari pohon kehidupan tersebut. Selain itu, ada juga pohon lain yang dipercaya sebagai tempat tinggal roh leluhur mereka yang sudah meninggal, Pohon Kehidupan, yang juga adalah tempat tinggal Eywa, dewi sembahan mereka. Mereka sering menjadikan tempat itu sebagai tempat berdoa. Jack Scully mengetahui hal itu karena dia sendiri mendapat kesempatan untuk dilatih menjadi prajurit suku dan ia berhasil. Jack bertugas sebagai mata-mata untuk mencari tahu apa kelemahan suku itu, karena mereka tidak takut bahaya dan memiliki senjata panah beracun yang bisa membunuh manusia hanya dalam waktu satu menit. Dari hasil mata-mata itulah kemudian manusia mengetahui bahwa



kelemahan suku Omaticaya adalah kedua pohon purba itu. Mereka kemudian berencana menyerang dan merusak kedua pohon itu agar suku tersebut tercerai berai dan meninggalkan tempat itu. Tapi, dalam pelaksanaanya, Jack jatuh cinta kepada putri kepala suku, Neytiri (diperankan oleh Zoe Saldana). Dan dia berniat menolong suku itu agar tidak dihancurkan oleh pesawatpesawat canggih manusia. Tapi, niatnya ini dihalangi oleh pemimpin tentara disana, Kolonel Miles (diperankan oleh Stephen Lang). Mereka tetap menyerang dan berhasil menghancurkan Pohon Suara. Ketika Omaticaya mendengar pengakuan Jack bahwa dia adalah mata-mata, maka mereka langsung membencinya dan mengusirnya, termasuk juga Neytiri. Mereka tidak mau mendengar permohonan Jack bahwa dia sudah berubah dan berada di pihak mereka.



Kolonel Miles yang mengetahui kalau Jack sudah berpindah ke pihak Na’vi langsung menangkapnya bersama semua anggota ilmuwan lainnya. Tapi mereka berhasil lolos dan kembali ke perkampungan Omaticaya. Tapi Jack harus kehilangan Dr. Grace yang tewas karena ditembak Miles. Dengan marah, Jack memimpin para orang Na’vi untuk membalas dendam dan mengusir manusia dari Pandora. Film ini pada dasarnya adalah film tentang bagaimana manusia rela merusak alam demi keuntungan. Karena keganasannya pula, manusia tega merusak harmonisasi kehidupan mahluk di tata surya lain, yang selama berabad-abad sudah hidup serasi dengan alam. Dan di bagian akhir ditunjukkan, bagaimana alam juga bisa membalas. Berbagai hewan berdatangan dan ikut serta dalam pertempuran itu. Dan disitulah terlihat, bahwa peralatan canggih manusia ternyata tidak berarti apa-apa jika berhadapan langsung dengan kekuatan alam. Film ini memiliki efek visual yang luar biasa. Keindahan alam yang luar biasa, lengkap dengan berbagai jenis pohon raksasa. Berbagai jenis burung raksasa yang berwarna-warni. Berbagai jenis kumbang yang luar biasa aneh. Dan yang terutama adalah bagaimana mereka bisa berhubungan satu sama lain dengan ujung rambut mereka yang berserabut. Film yang bagus sekali. Soundtrack nya adalah lagu “I See You” oleh Leona Lewis, sangat bisa mewakili jiwa dari film ini. Menarik. (2009)

The Plot: Jack Scully (played by Sam Worthtington) is a former Marine who came home in a state of disability, which is lame. He was invited to participate in the Avatar program on Pandora developed America. His job is to move the blue figure tall creature with the power of his brain. Being high and blue are the original inhabitants of the planet's creatures, the Na'vi. Jack along with the scientist who led on the study, Dr. Grace (played by Sigourney Weaver), served to establish good relations with the local population, namely those of the Na'vi clan Omaticaya. They expected to find out more about the customs and culture of this clan for a particular purpose. Because they found a high value rare metals embedded right where they live tribe, called unobtanium. Man wants to take as much metal and sell it in the earth. But, to be like that, they must first expel the clan Omaticaya from there. And the task was not easy. Because in that place there is a giant tree called the Tree Sound and greatly revered by the tribe. They will not want to leave that place because they do not want to be away from the tree of life. In addition, there is also another tree which is believed to be dwelling spirits of their ancestors who had died, the Tree of Life, which also is home to Eywa, the goddess worshiped them. They often make the place as a place of prayer. Jack Scully knew that because he himself had the opportunity to be trained as warrior tribes and he succeeded. Jack served as a spy to find out what the weaknesses of the tribe, because they are not afraid of danger and has a poison dart gun can kill a human in just a minute. From the results of the

When Omaticaya Jack's confession that he was a spy, then they hated him and sent him away, as well as Neytiri. They do not want to hear the petition Jack that he has changed and is on their side.



Colonel Miles knows that Jack had moved on to the Na'vi immediately arrested together with all the members of other scientists. But they managed to escape and return to the village Omaticaya. But Jack had to lose Dr. Grace was shot Miles. In anger, he leads the Na'vi people for revenge and oust humans from Pandora. This film is essentially a film about how people are willing to destroy nature for profit. And at the end of the show, how nature can reply. Various animals come and take part in the fighting.
