this fault can occur in yhe event of an undervoltage, e.g. if the battery is discharged. Cause: Software error in the instrument cluster with a software version less than 20.0 All E46 from start of production up to May 2000. Solution: Replace cluster and program to car. Mileage will be taken from LSZ.
