Silahkan di Catat di buku catatan DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH 1. Direct Speech adalah: Bentuk kalimat Kutipan asli dari Pembicara atau pendapat seseorang tanpa mengalami perobahan. Ex:
 
 Koza said “ I am happy”
 
 2. Indirect Speech adalah: Kalimat orang lain yang diulangi dalam bentuk lain oleh pembicara tanpa menggunakan bentuk yang sama tetapi masih mempertahankan maksud atau isi kalimat aslinya. Ex:
 
 Direct speech :
 
 Koza said “ I am happy”
 
 Indirect speech : Koza said that he was happy Bentuk-bentuk indirect speech: a. Kata pengantarnya dalam bentuk present tense ( Says, tells, explains, ask) maka indirect speechnya tidak ada perubahan
 
 Ex:
 
 Koza says to Khozi “ My friend is beautiful” Koza says to Khozi that his friends is beautiful
 
 b. Kata Pengantarnya dalam bentuk past tense ( said, told, asked, etc) Maka indirect speech akan berubah

 Bentuk Perubahan dari Direct Speech menjadi Indirect Speech 1. Reported speech berasal dari statement ( Penyataan) digunakan “ that” Ex: Direct speech : Koza said “ My mother went to America” Indirect speech : Koza said that his mother had gone to America 2. Reported speech yang berasal dari interrogative (yes/no question) “ If/whether” Ex: Direct speech
 
 : Amir asked “ may I know your name?
 
 Indirect speech : Amir asked wheather he might know your name
 
 3. Reported speech yang memakai kata Tanya, what, where, when Ex: Direct speech : Kozi asked “ where do you live Indirect speech : Kozi asked me where I lived
