Performance Standards The learner shall be able to maintain and repair computer systems and networks based on acceptable standards in computer software and hardware. C. Learning Competencies/Specific Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: Cognitive: Identify the defects in computer systems and networks; Psychomotor: Solve the given problem or defects in computer system and networks; and Affective: Value the importance of solving the defects in computer systems and networks. D. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills #1  Activity – I will group you into five; choose a leader, secretary and two reporters. Each group will be given a task card. (5 minutes) G1- The Screen is Blank & The Computer Won’t Start G2- Windows Won’t Boot & Abnormally Functioning Operating System G3- Computer is Slow& The Screen is Frozen G4- Strange Noises& Slow Internet G5-Dropped Internet Connections & Overheating Guide questions:  Why do we need to know the defects in computer systems and networks?  What are the defects in computer system and networks?  After taking the activity, do you find it difficult to explain/ identify? Why or why not? E. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills #2  Activity –With the same group, you will pick randomly what will be your task to role play in front. Situational Problems (Task Cards) Johanna is surfing in the internet about her assignment in science. She downloads videos, pictures and articles. While she is saving the documents the computers suddenly freeze. Can you help Johanna to solve her problem? Ruth and Joshua are playing video games. Every time they are playing the computer is slow, they cannot enjoy playing. Can you help Ruth and Joshua solve their problem? Michaela loves to sing, she made playlist on her favorite songs in her computer. One time while she is listening to music she was distract by a strange noise coming to her computer. Can you help Michaela to find solution to her problem? Mark is a computer addict; he may use computer 24/7. While he is playing he didn’t notice that the fan of his computer is not working properly and was overheat. What is the best solution should Mark do? Jubailyn is doing her project on her computer. While she is working on her project her mother called her to make dishes in the kitchen. When she come back she was shocked that her computer turn to blank. Can you help Jubailyn to solve her problem? Guide questions:  Do you find it easy? Why or why not?  What defects in computer system and networks is hard for you to predict?
