How does the choice of Processed used in each text reflect the purpose of the text?

How does the choice of Processed used in each text reflect the purpose of the text? In this text, there are more often the processes of material and verbal processes for example: (went, said, met, and asked). I think the reason is that the purpose of the first text describes someone's experience that happened in the past.
Text 2 Birds are (Proc:being words) the only animals with feathers. These structures make (Proc: Material) up the greater part of the wing surface and act (Proc:Material) as insulation, helping them remain (Proc:Mental) warm. Birds are (Proc:being words) the most active of the vertebrate animals and they consequently consume (Proc:Material) large quantities of food. (Source: Year 7 Science student)
