8. Operation 1) Prep aration A. Wear a lead apron for x-ray exposures. B. Leave at least 2 meters away from the unit or use extended hand switch cable in order to keep safe distance. C. Apply pro per beam size a nd techni cal values to produce the best radiographic results while minimizing exposure dose. D. Be careful about the decimal point on the mAs display in order to acquire intended mAs values. E. For the indoor radiography for the p atient in t he bed, ask visito rs to leave the room for a wh ile and keep safe distance from the patient. F. Pay attention to proper management of the equipment and careful maintenance. G. Cumulative radiation dose should not exceed the recommended amount. Ask the guide and advice of experts for the requirement of additional protective devices at frequent use of high kV and mAs. WARNING Please check if the voltage and current of the power supply observe the specifications written on t he system labels, attached t o backside of machine body. The levels of voltage should move within ±10% of the standard values.
CAUTION Please check up all the line connections before the operation and x-ray exposures of machine.
2) Collimator Check-up A. Place the loaded cassette on the patient’s backside. B. Arrange the SID (Focal Spot to Image Receptor Distance) using a scale located on the side of the collimator. C. Turn on the collimator lamp and laser pointer by pushing collimator/laser on switch. D. Adjust the size of the x-ray beam in accordance with the film size using the x-ray field adjustment knobs. Turn off the collimator and laser pointer after 30 seconds on the timer.

3) Preheat (1) Overview All portable x-ray units require preheat procedure to protect the x-ray tube from an instant surge of current and to secure long and safe operation of the system. Preheat of x-ray tube is required under following situation. A. Initial use or installation. B. Non-use of the equipment over 1 month at low temperature C. Temperature of x-ray tube is below 0℃ (32℉). (Cold tube) (2) Method to Preheat Following preheat procedure is recommended. A. Install the equipment at a safe place for radiation. B. In case outdoor temperature is below 0℃ (32℉), move the equipment indoor and warm it up. C. In order to preheat filament of x-ray tube, exposure x-rays in 15 second time intervals. First: 3 exposures at 50 kV @ 0.2 mAs Second: 3 exposures at 80 kV @ 5.0 mAs Third: 3 exposures at 110 kV @ 5.0 mAs CAUTION Beep Sound will occur during x-ray exposu res. Do n ot press exposure buttons at wait mode after x-ray exposure is made.

Testers: DVM, Digital Oscilloscope (Tektronics TDS 3032 or other device with higher calibers. 1) Power Supply -The power switch should be at off condition. -Connect power cables to power consent. -Power on the switch. 2) Calibration method is composed of three procedures. -Setting and adjusting tube kV. -Setting and adjusting tube mA -Adjusting filament preheat. A. Setting and adjusting tube kV (Pre shipment adjustment) -Turn off the power switch. -Connect Oscilloscope to HT Controller inside machine. -Chanel 1: connect the probe of oscilloscope to TP11 (IP F/B) and GND (TP16, 17 or 18). -Chanel 2: connect the probe of oscilloscope to TP10 (EP F/B) and GND (TP16. 17 or 18). Chanel 1: mA, 1V = 10mA Chanel 2: kV, 1V = 25kV -Turn on the power switch. -Set the conditions a s 4 0kV and 0. 1mAs (2 0mA) and observe mA waveforms at Channel 1 of Oscilloscope. -If the value at channel 1 is not 2V (20mA), adjust the mA output with VR1 of HT board. And observe if the waveform of Channel 2 is 40kV (1.625V). -Set the conditions as 1 00kV and 0.2 mAs (4 0mA) and observe mA waveforms at Channel 1 of Oscilloscope. -If the value at channel 1 is not 4 V (40mA), adjust the mA output with VR1 of HT board. And observe if the waveform of Channel 2 is 100kV (4V). ※ CAUTION ※ As the kV value of channel 2 is automatically adjusted by standard parameters, Additional calibration is not required.

Calibration Code
Calibration Data
Press mA up switch (Refer to the OP sheet) and it displays as follows. C01 is calibration code of tube current (40mA at 40-50kV) and 40 is calibration data of tube current. .(40mA from 40 to 50kV) -Select mA with mAs up/down switch (Refer to the OP sheet) -Press the ‘Store Key’ longer than 1 second after application (Refer to the OP sheet) -Exposure x-rays after saving the data -If the measu red data is not 4V(40 mA), reset t he cali bration dat a. Set the mA value s as thi s method. -Table 1 represents calibration code and data of each tube current vales at 5kW. C. Filament preheat calibration -If the preheat calibration data or VR1 are set in wrong way, over current or low current can occurat X-ray tube. -There are two methods about preheat calibration. Calibration data can be changed by tube conditions. -VR1 can be applied to overall tube current. Filament preheat calibration dat a can be applied to each tube current. -Turn on the power switch. -Under normal mode, press [‘S’+‘L’+‘kV_Down’] Key in case of human and [‘Bird’+‘Dog’+‘kV_Down’] Key in case of veterinary over 2 seconds.
