1 Introduction The OTIS service tool will be connected to the printed circuit board GCS-ECB at the controller and provides menus for monitoring, adjusting and failure logging. The menu structure is multilingual and is divided into two parts. The first part is available for everyone. The second part is enabled by a user password (costumer). In addition a OTIS password can enable the OTIS submenu, which contains the former OTIS Service Tool menu. Only enabled parts of the menu are shown. With a delay of 30 minutes after the last input, the password will be reset and the main display will be shown.

5.1.1 Operational modes INI INS LOCK NAV IDL CONT INTSTP INTRUN RESTRT

INItialization after power on Inspection operation with Inspection Tool LOCKed failure, reset via DT menu Not AVailable normal failure IDLE = Ready for operation CONTinuous operation INTermittent operation SToPpped INTermittent operation RUNning RESTaRT device is active

Inspection mode INS If at least one blind plug at the inspection socket is removed, the controller provides the inspection features like not monitoring the handrail speed, the missing step device and the floor plate contacts. Operation of the escalator only possible via inspection tool. Failure mode LOCK (locked = manual reset type)

6 The special procedure for manual reset type errors stores the information in the EEPROM. To release this mode and change to mode NAV, it is required to press the NRD-Rest button on the ECB_II, after checking the mentioned device. See 7 System diagnostic messages Escalator Error Messages for information of which errors can lead to this failure mode. Failure mode NAV (Not available) The failure display will be refreshed via the key switch up/down while not in the maintenance mode and at inspection only - if the failure is eliminated - via inspection tools buttons up or down. If a mechanical locked device is activated, the manually reset button at the device has to be served after checking the device. If all errors are corrected, the software changes automatically after 3 seconds (needed for checking the µp and the relay contacts)

Ready for operation mode IDLE (without direction) If the controller is at IDLE mode, the escalator is ready for starting via the startswitches up and down, which are key operated type. For correct starting turn the key from RUN to the direction DOWN or UP, hold it for at least 3 seconds, so that the steps can reach the nominal speed and let then return the key to the RUN position. The 3 seconds are needed to override the non reversal device at starting. If the escalator stops while this time, a new start is possible at complete standstill plus 3 seconds, which is needed for checking the µp and the relay contacts (see mode NAV). CONT Continuous operation (with direction) After starting the escalator via the key switches up or down, the escalator stays in permanent operation, stopped only by failure or emergency stop button. INTSTP Intermittent mode standstill One direction is selected, but no passenger is detected, so the escalator continues in standing still. INTRUN Intermittent mode running A passenger is detected and the escalator runs in the selected direction, until no further passenger appears and the long and short run time is completed. RESTRT Restart operation The restart device is active and tries to restart the escalator the disered direction..

10GCS-ECB Programming GCS- ECB SW code upgrade by OMU, the Otis Memory Unit(OMU) is a small portable memory device used to deliver software data to field sites for the purpose of updating component operating software.

If GCS-ECB is power on with the OMU is plugged, the GECB OMU menu will be shown on the Escalator Service Tool. Under this menu, operating software and configure parameters which are saved in the GCS-ECB can be backed up to OMU module and updated and restored from OMU module. The main menu structure is shown below, for details please refer to document DAA26800H_CSU. 1 GECB

11 MSD Check Run After any maintenance work by removing blind plug or MSD error, completeness checking of the step band is required when first time to start escalator in normal operation. ‘Msd Check Run’ is showed on SVT, ‘MsdCheck’ on OP/CP, and the Fault Indicate Light (FIL) flickering at 2.5HZ during the period of performing the check. It shall be performed by the mechanic turning and holding key switch or pushing down start buttons on CP for 5 seconds, the escalator will keep standstill and the buzzer will ring during this period, then the escalator will be started. After that the mechanic can release the key switch or buttons on CP and inspect the escalator running.

During the MSD Check Run period, the Intermittent Operation and the VF Operation will be disabled to make sure the escalator running at nominal speed for 2 minutes continuously. The MESB will continuously check the completeness of steps. The operation status of following devices can inform mechanic that system is under MSD Check Run process, 1. Traffic flow lights (TFL) in both landings show red bars 2. “MSDCheck” is displayed on OP/CP 3. Fault Indicating Light (FIL) is flickering at 2.5HZ After 2 minutes running without any errors, the buzzer will ring 3 seconds to inform successful MSD Check Run. And the devices will, 1. Traffic flow lights (TFL) in both landings will show correct signs according to running direction 2. “OTIS” is displayed on OP/CP 3. Fault Indicating Light (FIL) is switched off. If the escalator stopped for any reasons during the 2 minutes Check Run, the Check shall be performed again until get the successful result.
