Abstract

In the past few decades, various studies related to nanomaterial keep growing rapidly. Nanomaterials are synthesized in various forms. Nano-structural materials such as calcium phosphate have a similar characteristic with biological tissue. One type of calcium phosphate that is often to be used is hydroxyapatite (HAP). HAP is a biocompatible and bioactive material that is usually used in medical applications, multidisciplinary applications, and immobilization of enzymes in biosystems. The goal of this study is nanohydroxyapatite synthesize in the reverse micelle system using CTAB and SDS surfactants and the effect of [water] / [surfactant] on the morphology and particle size that will be analyzed by using TEM, SEM, XRD, FT-IR, AAS, and UV-Vis spectrophotometers. This research was conducted by synthesizing hydroxyapatite in a reverse micelle system based on the differences of molar [water] / [surfactant] ratio. The results showed that uniform-sized Nano-HAP can be synthesized from a solution of CaCl2 and (NH4)2HPO4 by NH4OH addition at room temperature, Nano-HAP morphology was influenced by nanoreactor conditions with variations in mole [water] / [surfactant] ratio, SEM analysis shows that the nanoparticle form to be the rod-shaped using CTAB surfactant system, while the SDS surfactant system is needle-shaped, from the TEM analysis, the HAP particle shape in W = 5 in shaped rod, besides XRD analysis shows that HAP have hexagonal crystal structures with various parameters and densities ( calculation) = 3,167-3,205 g / cm3. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the synthesis of hydroxyapatite compounds in the reverse micelle system can affect morphology in the presence of surfactants and supramolecular forms of molecular self-assembly. Key words: hydroxyapatite, CATB, SDS, Nano-hydroxyapatite, reverse micelle.
