Harus diingat bahwa channel 16 hanya untuk memanggil. Setelah panggilan di jawab wajib pindah ke channel yang di setujui (misalnya channel 06 atau channel 08) Pada umumnya setelah terjadi komunikasi, nama kapal sudah tidak di ucapkan lagi. Namun, setiap akhir pembicaraan harus di akhiri dengan kata ‘OVER’. Pada pembicaraan yang panjang, jangan melepas tombol ‘transmit’ sebelum kata ‘over’ diucapkan.
