1. SCOPE This specification applies to all materials and parts for vehicles produced or placed on the market in domestic and foreign.

2. PURPOSE 2.1 The purpose of this specification is to improve the environmental performance of HMC KMC vehicles through prohibition of the use of harmful substances as well as to meet domestic and foreign environmental regulations. 2.2 If domestic and foreign environmental regulations are revised or newly enforced, this specification could be amended to meet that regulation.

3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Prohibition of the use of 4 heavy metals 3.1.1 The following four types of heavy metals[Lead (Pb), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd)] shall not be used in automotive parts and materials. It can be accepted only when homogeneous material contains heavy metals within the range given at 3.1.1.2 or if the application is exempted from the heavy metal ban (see 3.1.2) 3.1.1.1 homogeneous material Material that cannot be mechanically separated into different materials

3.1.2 Permission for exceptional use of heavy metals

3.1.2.1 In spite of 3.1.1, in some applications those heavy metals are still tolerated. (see appendix Ⅲ) 3.1.2.2 Notification for the mercury added parts (Limited to the vehicles for United States of America) If Mercury (Hg) is used intentionally in the products such as switches, relays, lamps and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), the purpose of mercury use, its contents, its part name and part number should be reported to the relevant design team prior to Proto 1 stage. If the information which were reported is changed, all the changed Information should be instantly notified as well as the reason for the 1F-SG-0016

3.1.3 Report of Heavy Metal Ban Compliance Material information of parts under in the scope shall be reported and approved via IMDS (International Material Data System; www.mdsystem.com) following Hyundai∙ Kia IMDS Guideline’. The approved IMDS data shall be referenced to an ISIR (Initial Sampling Inspection Report) for heavy metal ban compliance check.

Authorization and Restriction under REACH (EC 1907/2006)
3.2.1 Duty to communicate information on substances in articles (REACH Art. 33) • In case listed on the REACH SVHCs candidate list are used in automotive parts and materials supplied to HKMC, suppliers shall use IMDS(International Material Data System under www.mdsystem.com) to report following ‘Hyundai∙ Kia IMDS Guideline’.
3.2.2 Requirements on using the substances listed in REACH Annex XIV (Authorization) • If suppliers use the substances listed on the Annex XIV for authorization, suppliers must enter the material information of parts with IMDS and should not use any substance listed in the Annex XIV after the prohibited date (see Appendix IV 2). • If suppliers are approved by ECHA for usage of the substances included on the Annex XIV before 18 months from the prohibited date (see Appendix IV 2), suppliers can use the substances included on the Annex XIV after certifying with HKMC. • For substitution, the date of application for re-developed parts and materials has to be in-line with the date mentioned number 4.
3.2.3 Requirements on using the substances listed on REACH Annex XVII (Restriction)

• The substances included on the Annex XVII cannot be manufactured and import,

used if suppliers do not implement the requirements on the Annex XVII. • In automotive parts and materials must be in line with the conditions of restriction of Annex XVII. • For substitution, the date of application for re-developed parts and materials has to be in-line with the following number 4.

3.3 Reporting method for substances used in the automotive parts from suppliers to HKMC(see Appendix V) 3.3.1 ‘D’(Declaration) substances according to the Global Automotive Declarable Substance List(GADSL) ‘D’ substances listed in GADSL and used in automotive parts and materials have to be identified and reported in the IMDS system by following the Hyundai∙ Kia IMDS Guideline. Data shall be accurate; No delete its use or reduce its contents, no disregard them as Wildcards or confidential and impurities. Since ‘D’ substances are candidates for ‘P’(Prohibited) substances, it is highly recommended not to use ‘D’ substances. 3.3.2 ‘P’(Prohibited) substances according to the Global Automotive Declarable Substance List(GADSL) ‘P’ substances of GADSL shall not be used in automotive parts and materials.

3.4 Packaging of Parts Packaging for parts which is not removed until customers take over their vehicles is not a target of IMDS(International Material Data System) input. But it has to fulfill requirements of 3.1.1, 3.2.2 and 3.3.2. Suppliers have to keep reliable data to proof above fulfillment and submit this data when requested by HKMC.

4. DATE OF APPLICATION 4.1 This specification applies from the date of its registration. 4.2 Vehicles produced and sold in the same region under regulation Re-developed parts where substitutions are made to meet heavy metals ban and REACH regulation shall be supplied at least 2 months prior to legally prohibited date. 4.3 Vehicles exported to other regions under regulation Re-developed parts where substitutions are made to meet heavy metals ban and REACH regulation shall be supplied at least 6 months prior to legally prohibited date.

4. Corrosion protective coating
- If it is impossible to separate and measure weight of corrosion protective coating, analyze a raw corrosion protective coating solution. 2. (a) Member States shall ensure that materials and components of vehicles put on the market after 1 July 2003 do not contain lead, mercury, cadmium or hexavalent chromium other than in cases listed in Annex II under the conditions specified therein; (b) in accordance with the procedure laid down in Article 11 the Commission shall on a regular basis, according to technical and scientific progress, amend Annex II, in order to: (i) as necessary, establish maximum concentration values up to which the existence of the substances referred to in subparagraph (a) in specific materials and components of vehicles shall be tolerated; (ii) exempt certain materials and components of vehicles from the provisions of subparagraph (a) if the use of these substances is unavoidable; (iii) delete materials and components of vehicles from Annex II if the use of these substances is avoidable; (iv) under points (i) and (ii) designate those materials and components of vehicles that can be stripped before further treatment; they shall be labelled or made identifiable by other appropriate means; 1.1 Target vehicle : Apply to M1, N1 categories defined in EU Directive 1.2 Annex Ⅱ (2011/37/EU) : Materials and parts exempt from article 4 (2) Scope and expiry date of the Materials and components exemption

- The use of these substances is unavoidable due to the product characteristics. - There is no substituent material which is defined by
